The new tc electronic BG500.

If one of my buttons fall within a period of a month I'll prolly get the warranty just to be sure. $430 is still a great value!
mine came off the floor, didnt look like anyone had ever tried it. So far so good, nothing appears to be loose. Ive used the buttons alot too and they feel solid. I am rather worried about the overall reliability of this little amp. Hopefully it will get me by for a couple of months till i can afford something a bit larger.

I have been using the BG500 210 for almost a year now, rehearsing, recording and gigs..
I have been happy with how it's performed for a fairly budget amp.
I have also had problems with the small buttons used for the memory and mute/tune comming loose and falling out. Not been a huge problem as my sound is stored but annoying none the less.
It's soon time for me to get a new rig (read no more combos!) ... the BG will go back as my home practice amp, the Aux in and headphone amp I have found to be very good on the BG and I'll get use from that at home and happily keep on using it.

I agree Highfox, the headphone amp sounds fantastic on this amp. Ive been playing with it for the last couple of days. Now compared to playing with the speaker, its very different IMHO. THe amp changes character considerably once you push the master past a certain point. I cant wait to try this amp with a band and see what it really sounds like.
If nothing else its a great amp to have around the house/rehearsal space. I've used it on a gig last Saturday, a practice and around the house now. Nice goto amp. I had a rehearsal with a new band last night, but the place had some steep stairs and I didn't want to mess with that, so I took the Carvin BX500 and the SWR Golight 2x10 for ease of movement. I've got a gig this Saturday and if its a straight rolling shot from parking to the stage, I'm going to take the BG500 out again.
Im gonna use mine at practice for the first time Saturday night. Should be a good test. Ive been practicing with it now for 2 weeks, and I think I have all 3 presets where I want them. Hopefully it will sound the same with a full band. Im sure I will have to tweek a bit anyway, but I have 3 good starting points. Its nice to have controls that actually change the sound.
Well, I've done one more wedding and a small-ish club with the BG500/115, and I have to say that I like it even better than I did before! I've finally found my settings which has made me a much happier camper.
Again, I'm impressed by thin thing's volume output. I'd really have to be at a huge venue to want more than this thing delivers.
I have yet to try the DI yet though, so I'm still skeptical on that aspect.

I mentioned this in the Hot deals thread... I was set to buy one of the these, checked one out without any drama at a GC in VA, called several friends and told them about the deal. Went to the GC closest to home in Rockville, MD and they had two 1-15's on the floor. No signs of abuse. My friend Malcolm Hall met me there and we put both combos through there paces. Still impressed, then the memory switches ceased to function consistently on my combo. Then one of the memory buttons popped off on the one Malcolm was trying. It really got me thinking about what amounted to a rare thing for me, an impulse buy. Then we tried a couple of other combos and that sealed it.
Congrats to anyone who was able to take advantage of this deal and have it work out for them. In the end I just wasn't feeling lucky. Having what I already have, it wasn't worth it to me.

I feel the same way. It's slowly turning into my goto amp for all gigs. I only took my Carvin BX500/SWR 4x10 rig to a gig last night because the SWR has casters and I can stack a lot of PA gear on top and reduce my trips during load in/out. Had I not had PA duty it would have been the BG500
The sound guys that have taken the DI from this amp on my gigs so far have been very happy with it. The downside is the Gain = DI out as well. People that know my sound/playing are saying that I'm sounding better with this amp at gigs than with my previous rigs. I feel like I am too actually. It really shines in a mix. And I've yet to play a gig when it wasn't loud enough. I have one coming up in a couple of weeks at a big theater venue that doesn't like to run the bass through the PA. I usually run my BX500 + 2x10 + 4x10 at that gig just be safe even though it probably more than I need. I'm kicking around taking the BG500 2x10 combo and cranking it and see how it goes.
I ended up using tie downs to semi-perm attach the Home Depot dolly to the amp. Kinda of a poor mans Combo450 now
All that I just keep shaking my head thinking $349... After spending thousands and thousands of dollars on bass gear, its nice to run into something like that.
Sorry to hear it Brad. I've got my fingers crossed that my buttons stay intact. I was lucky enough to get mine unscathed and unopened from a box.
