The Official 2012 NHL Stanely Cup Finals Thread

I think Neal would have to answer the bell for sure,...I'd prefer it be in a post faceoff fight rather than the Flyers taking runs at him all night. No reason for the Flyers to stoop to Penguins level at this point. I think they take the high road however. It's all moot if the Flyers win tonight,...IF they win.

That shirt is awesome. I did notice that the Sea of Orange is more impressive then the partly cloudy skies of white in Pittsburgh.

EDIT: RE Asham. 4 games doesn't surprise me,....the fact that he has never been suspended or fined prior to this does surprise me. I don't recall him ever being suspended as a Flyer,....but I thought that surely he has as a member of another team. I prejudged. You guys refer to him as a goon,...but I think this being a first time suspension,...perhaps we can make the claim that he isn't a traditionally dirty player.

Haha. You have to admit, if that was Hartnell doing that to a Pen you would think it was funny. Dick move, but funny. Not so funny when your team is down 0-3 though...

Like I said about Asham, he's not a goon. Last year in 7 playoff games he had 4 points and 2 PIM. He just also happens to be a 4th line enforcer (even though he's only 5'11). I would say that while his crosscheck on Schenn was dirty and stemmed from frustration, traditionally he most definitely not a dirty player. He prefers to drop the gloves to settle any disputes (which he is pretty damn good at).

After CHI won game one of the 2010 SCFs; everyone gave Pronger a hard time for stealing the puck and throwing it in the trash (that's real game within the games-manship and very clever IMO). So now it's our turn to dish it out.

Crosby's move was adolescent at best. I figured Crosby would have grown up by now. Hasn't happened.

I just realized that this Flyers team is sans an on ice Captain. Has any team won a Stanley Cup without a guy on the team wearing a "C"?

Boooooooooooooooooo! Leave the fans alone with their shirts.

On a side note, I play this game called Pens Predictor where you text in a prediction about that nights game. The Pens sponsor the game. For example, todays prediction is to text the jersey number of what Pen you think will score first. A random drawing of those who predict right gets you a $25 gift card. I think the Pens know the season is over, tonights prize is a $150 gift card. Time to blow out all the gift cards. :)

I wanted to guess 18 to see what % of people also guessed 18 ;)

I wouldn't worry about the shirts tongiht. Philly fans are going to show up with the front page of the Philadelphia Daily News. Full page picture of Crosby supposedly dressed up as the cowardly lion.

Philly is doing to Pittsburgh what Chicago did to Philly a couple years ago (although I still think putting Pronger in a skirt was much worse).

The Flyers are my second favorite team, but I think that the fans shouldn't get too cocky about tonights game. Pittsburgh still has a ton of talent and that talent could all of a sudden come alive. But if the Pens have any hopes of winning this series they need Fluery to be much much, better.

I have this weird feeling, like tonight the Pens will win something like 3-2. I'm hoping that the suspensions and being down 0-3 will finally wake the Pens up. I do not have much hope for them winning this series (who would being down 0-3) but it is definitely feasible that they would win at least 3 in a row. Could you imagine what Game 7 would be like in this series if the Pens managed to come back from this?! That would be some incredible hockey. I'd at least like to see them go out with a little respect.

Also very interested to see how Despres and Tangradi perform tonight. Martin is out with an injury (thank god). He has been a 5 million dollar pylon this series. Despres has Letang-like skating and skills and is a big strong body. Tangradi has been kind of a bust when he was originally regarded as a touted prospect, but he is a Philly native and what hockey player doesn't dream about getting to play in the playoffs? This will be his first chance and he could come up big.

Yeah,....It's hard to make a call on the outcome of tonight's game 4. As I've been saying the past few days. This Series is not a sealed deal yet. I do believe the Flyers take it the series. If they are to win,...they need to do so but not getting sucked into the shenanigans. Do so with discipline. Do so on the special teams like they've been doing all series long. Game 4s are usually the hardest to win.

Bryz needs to tighten up as well. 4 or 5 GA against is not something they can rely on. Flashes of brilliance are great and all,...but Bryz needs to be consistently brilliant if he is to beat the likes of Lunqvist and Thomas.

Yeah I think that if the Pens are to win tonight they need Fluery to be much better. I do think however that if the Flyers get a decent lead or just continue to frustrate the Pens both defensively and emotional the Flyers will win tonight. But those are big IFs if you ask me...

Backstrom's match penalty was upheld. I heard Shanahan's explanation - he really is a master at this - it is worth finding the audio and/or video everytime he lays out the story.

After listening to his explanations, even rabid Bruin fans went along with his discipline of Marchand; it would be interesting to hear what the feeling in DC is.

I'm guessing 10 games for Torres; I'd be surprised if it were shorter but not if it were longer.

To Darth's point about too much conversation about the dirty hits. I'd rather not talk about it, but it is impossible for me to not talk about it. If the dirty hits were gone, there would be more talk about the hockey and I think that is why the league is starting to take this stuff seriously. They have a great game, the best post-season, the technology exists that you can actually follow it on TV now, the NHL has so many things going for it, that if they succeed in cleaning it up a little, the game will continue to grwo.

I'd rather watch a physical but reasonably clean game like the first two Caps-B's games than stuff like the Torres hit or the Pens meltdown.
