Rangers basically cannot let Ottawa get to overtime. Not sure why we keep losing it right away, but we need to put them away in the beginning and not let them get those chances and comebacks.

There was an odd non-call in the 2nd where Staal stepped up on Spezza, who fell hard, and then Girardi got high sticked immediately after, and there wasn't a penalty on either. Staal's hit looked clean upon review, although Spezza went right off the ice, and the refs I guess didn't feel the need to give us a PP... kind of weird considering Girardi's nose was cut. Even if those penalties may have canceled out, it would have been a double minor giving us the advantage.

A lot of those calls were terrible. Not that the refs screwed the Flyers; the Flyers never showed up on the ice after the first intermission.

I'm sure that the referees for tonight's game got some very specific instructions from the League to not let this game get out of hand, but the refs took it way too far. I didn't see the third period, but it sounds like there were some ejections after Rinaldo's latest thuggery.

I pretty much called it tonight. I thought the Pens would win, and I thought Malkin would have a very good game. I also thought Bryzgalov would not. But I didn't think the Flyers would give up a friggin' 10-spot!! That was horrible. Bryzgalov looked like he couldn't care less on some of those goals. Some of the slowest movement by a goalie I've seen in a long time. Bob wasn't much better, but at least he was fairly quick. Not quick ENOUGH mind you, but fairly quick. Of course a slug would look quick after the lackluster effort Bryzgalov put forth.

The Flyers better be ready on Friday, because the house will be rockin' in Pittsburgh. I think Bryzgalov is back to his "no self-confidence" funk, which does not bode well for the Flyers. Laviolette needs to get them ready for Game 5, because it's gonna' be a tough one...

I'd be shocked if that were to happen. They do not want to appear disrespectful toward Pronger; and I think they're hoping he can come back next year. Personally, I think he's done. But if there comes a point where they realize he won't be coming back, I think Giroux will get the "C" pretty quickly. Although some on the Flyers sites are suggesting Timonen or Briere. But if I were a betting man, my money would be on Giroux.

Of course if they end up losing this series, Holmgren might ship the whole TEAM out! ;)

Wow - I just looked at the score. Looks like the Eagles could only manage a field goal on the vaunted Steelers defense. :D

I could tell that something was up from peaking at the posts, but I couldn't watch the game last night.

To my Philly friends - take heart - B's fans felt pretty much like you guys do now when we were up 3-0 last year on the Flyers and that worked out pretty well for us.

To my Pitt friends - it was good that the team didn't slink into the sunset, maybe there is hope.

Bryzgalov had that lost look in his eyes on the bench. He had checked out last night. Hopefully he can check back in before Friday night because Pittsburgh (and the rest of the league) knows the book on Bobrovski- SHOOT HIGH!

If this goes to game 6, I almost expect to see them have the Waiver Saver on the bench (Leighton). And iof it goes to 7...

I don't agree.

for once in the playoff , they (almost) applied the rules.

Can't wait for the NHL to get to international hockey officiating standard.

Will be interesting to see how both teams react on Friday. The building in Pittsburgh will be noisy, the Penguins will definitely be pumped, Philadelphia will have just been embarrased themselves. Fleury looked like he found something, Bryzgalov looked... and looked... and looked... into space...

note: I haven't even gone near the Flyers boards since yesterday afternoon.

Philly is 7-1 at CONSOL, with the one loss being the last game of this years regular season. I don't think they are worried. :)

Interesting to see all you Flyer guys think Neal will go unpunished on the ice Friday. I think otherwise.

I don't have much room to talk after what the Pens did Sunday, but I thought what Rinaldo did to Michalek was stupid. What was he trying to prove? I like Simmonds, so I was bummed to see him get ejected.

I really think it will come down to refs. If the refs are calling everything it's makes it hard on a dump and chase team like philly. We dump, chase, hold in the zone and put on pressure. It's legal and nothings wrong with it. But if you are scared to play it because any contract at all will be called your screwed. There is no why for us to play break out hockey with a track team like Pittsburgh. I know others won't agree with me but calling good clean hard hits as penalties seemed to handcuff the flyers and they had no idea how to respond.

What clean hard hits were called as penalties? They didn't take hitting out of the game. They were calling all the little ticky-tack stuff, leaving no room for anything illegal. Any crosscheck, slash, trip, etc.

I watched everyone many times today, half were weak if any penalty. It was the worst called playoff game I've ever seen in any sport. You can list them all you want. It was bs. My adult league allows more contact. That second period was embaressing for the nhl and it's refs. I think they may have got those refs on loan from the nba.
