I stopped watching after the Sullivan PP goal got the Pens up to 7 goals in the second period. I'm glad I did. Hard to win games when you play almost the entire game shorthanded.

Just goes to show; get your heads screwed on straight and you can win some games.

JeffK and I both were calling for Pitt to win this one. This series is still far from over.

Sure it made for a terrible hockey game. But the refs came out at the beginning and made it clear how they were calling the game, just like Jagr said. The penalties given to the Pens when the Flyers took the lead were also BS.

My point was they didn't make contact illegal. Flyers could have still done dump and chase. My point was the Penguins adjusted while the Flyers did not.

I'll put it this way, if that is the amount of contact the refs will allow then it will be a track meet unfairly favoring the penguins. And if they call it that strict in this series they need to in the other series. They were just as dirty. But for me to actually expect the nhl to show consistency is stupid. I'm expecting a simular game friday.

The officiating had very little to do with last night's outcome. The tone of the game was set early. The Penguins adjusted to it. The Flyers didn't. After the first half of the first period, the Penguins special teams executed. The Flyers didn't. Fleury made key saves. The Flyers goalies didn't.

The Flyers led the league in minor penalties for and against during the regular season, if I remember correctly, and ended up with over 100 points. I cannot accept the argument that a tightly-called game will "unfairly" favor the Penguins.

Yeah,...can't really fault the Refs at all. Not sure what happened in the last half of the game but going off of Mkandolf's layout of the penalties,....looks like it was the Flyers turn to come unraveled and after Game 3 shenanigans,....it's no surprise that the refs called anything and everything. The Flyers were loosing their composure and taking bad penalties at the beginning of the 2nd period.

I'm hoping this loss will get the D and the Goalies heads back in the game. Some rookie mistakes are starting to show through. Where was Schenn on Stahl's second goal? My point being that I can't pin it on the Blueliners as much as I can on Team D as a whole. It will be an uphill battle with the loss of Grossmann to an upper body injury (listed as Day to Day).

I still don't think the Flyers are gonna find playoff success on offense alone. They can't expect to get 8 goals a game. That's just not how it works. Hopefully this blowout will be a blessing in disguise. I'm still not particularly impressed with Bryz.

I've played on and coached break out and dump and chase. Forget about the pens /flyers for now. Break out speed hockey is always favored by strictly called games, and dump and chase is always favored by loosely called games. Thats hockey fact. Look at the all star game, it might as well be a stick and puck. I don't know why defensemen even show up to it. It needs to be called in the middle for both styles of offense to have success.

"Break out speed hockey"? That's an "offensive style"? If it is, I've never heard of it. Are you referring to carrying the puck into the offensive zone as opposed to throwing it in?

Am I to understand that the only chance Philly has of winning is to allow some of the shenanigans that went on in the first three games?

Personally, I think Fleury is the reason the Pens won. It also helped to have some fresh bodies in Strait, Despres, and Tangradi.

Break out, outlet, carrying the pick in. What ever you want to call it. There are many names and yes it is a offensive strategy.

I think the first game wasn't bad. The second two were very loose, the fourth very strict. I think fleury had a easy night. 22 shots and spent most of the game on a power play. How did he do anything that decided the game?

Well, a "break out" is moving the puck out of your own end, so you'll have to forgive my confusion.

At any rate, I'd say your Flyers are more than capable of carrying the puck in or dumping it in, whichever is made available to them. I don't think officiating will cost them the series. Fear not.

Pretty much what I was going to say. He did a better job in my opinion of puck handling, not leaving all those rebounds sitting out there. He seemed to cover up better and direct the puck to his guys. Maybe the extra day of rest and the rest in game three helped. If he plays well again on Friday, Philly will lose.

Don't go putting Rinne up on some pedestal for a great season. Fleury has a SC and played in another. I'd say Rinne is behind Fleury overall.

Not sure if anybody has touched on this or not, but Grossman is hurt ("upper body injury"). He only played about 6 minutes on-ice last night. Just what we needed - another defenseman down. Kubina looks like he's skating in sand. Same with Lilja. No Pronger; no Meszaros; no Bourdon; and now no Grossman. Pens chances are looking better and better.

I'm hoping that the Flyers are so embarrassed by their game last night that they respond well tomorrow. But Bryzgalov will need to come up big as well; and unfortunately, his confidence looks to be shattered.

Fleury has had a shaky post-season this year, and he's certainly not the best goalie in the league, but I think people are quick to criticize him. Obviously when you put up the numbers he did in the first 3 games, criticism is warranted, but the games don't fall completely on his shoulders.

After the game last night, the media kept trying to bait Brooks Orpik into saying Fleury was back in form for Game 4, implying he played awful in games 1 through 3. This seemed to piss Orpik off pretty bad, sending him on a tirade about how terrible their defense had played and left him hung out to dry. He has the support of his locker room 100%, has a SC ring, and was phenomenal last year when the Pens were in the playoffs minus the super stars.

That said, he's got a lot of stuff to work on. He has always been plagued with letting in weak goals from time to time.

I saw some tweets from Flyers beat writers indicating that Grossman may have a concussion. That would be bad.
