I would buy that in a heartbeat. What did you pay, if you don't mind me asking.
I owned 3 Jackson Concert Basses in the late 80's - a Ferrari Red dot-neck Student Model with passive Jackson P/Humbucker pups, and a pair of Custom Shop Tiger Striped Concert Basses with piezo-only pickups - one in pink/black, and one in yellow/black. I've missed them ever since I sold them.
I've always been a fan of the old Concert Basses and of David Ellefson too, so I couldn't resist when I saw these pop up on the Sweetwater site.
This is the first Jackson Bass I've bought in over 30 years, and I have to say that for the money, this one is a winner! The pic is from Sweetwater, and is of my actual bass.
The laurel fret board is nice & dark (unlike some I've seen), and the mother-of-bowling ball shark teeth inlays look good. The neck profile is very comfy, and the fretwork is good.
I would have gladly ponied up a few hundred more for an alder body and an ebony board with MOP inlays, but I know they were trying to meet a price point.
The neck profile is very similar to the USA basses of old, and the tone and playability is great. I normally run my active basses with the EQ controls near their center detents, but this one sounds best with both pickups on & everything dimed.
I purchased a nice Gator hard case with it, and I'm very happy with this one!

They made some purple but the Majority of them were black. The Jackson got the sparkle green.

anyone know of a direct fit replacement bridge that will fit a 1B?
I changed the pickups to the new Dimarzio Billy Sheehan relentless and love the sound. But the bridge is pretty gunked up and the adjustment screws don't want to move easily. I am afraid to break them and have another serious project on my hands

all the jackson basses from that series take the same thing. There are many others with the 5 holes that just go right in, but if you want an original......
