You somewhat outlined my point :p

I like Bongos and hate Crocs too, but ergonomically (functionally, maybe) one can defend Crocs.

I actually hate Crocs also for aggressively buying out a bar in town that's existed for decades and saw most of our folk artists grow and step on the scene. To expand an already way too big store.

Only to start downsizing right after. :scowl:

Healthcare people wear them because we are on our feet all day long. Most shoes are comfortable to a point. I tried different pairs of running/gym shoes (including my nice new balance shoes that I used for a marathon), but by the end of the day my feet ache. I hate how they look, but I could care less. I don't want to think about my feet when I am at work. I also like them because they are cheap. A lot of docs and nurses wear dansko's, but they are way more expensive. Plus, I think they look kinda girlie.

The idea that crocs are comfortable just because they are feather-weight is ********. The idea that this translates into a good shoe for doctors and nurses to wear in a hospital is even more ********. But, having just spent 2 full days in the hospital with the delivery of my second son, I can attest that a large number of nurses were wearing them. It also struck me as odd that most of the ones who had them on were overweight and looked like it pained them just to have to get out of their chair. As stereotypical as this may be, I associate crocs with trashy people who don't care what they look like or lazy people who are too overweight to bend over and tie their shoes.

i like the comfort and cleanabilty of crocs, but hate brandnames, so i buy the cheap chinese knockoffs made in the same factory as the brandname items (i do the same for electronics). i found some made out the same material, but more like shoes than sandals (ie no holes, ankle support). perfect for the rainy NW. plus they don't smell like hippie birkenstocks

I only claimed they are comfortable because they feel comfortable to me. I am neither ******** nor unable to tie my own shoes, and I do own a suit. You seem exceptionally angry re: crocs, a situation I think you may want to examine personally and one that seems well outside the scope of Talkbass OT.

I can't see how anyone could charge $20 for a pair of foam shoes. I'd boycott them on price alone!

I refuse to buy them, wear them or have any of my loved ones wear them.

However there have been some pretty bad fads that are worse than ugly rubber shoes with holes in them. Like the mullet, mile-high bangs and droopy pants with super wide legs that make little male emo teens look like they're wearing skirts.
