The official gym & weightlifting thread! rep #3

This threads needs a bumpage.

I started lifting again this summer, it's going quite well, my weights are increasing steadily and the changes are visible. I'm also losing fat a bit at the same time which is cool.

Man, I took 2 months off after the end of my spring semester and have only just started to get back into the swing of the things (lifting and eating well). Let me tell ya, it's been rough so far! Before I took time off I was able to pump out 3 sets of curls at 55lbs. Right now I can barely get through 3 full sets at 25lbs, and my workout lasts a total of 20 minutes before I'm begging for mercy :crying: I'm also having a lot harder time saying no to a lot of unhealthy foods, which has been my real downfall this summer.

Saying no is hard, my trick is to say yes once in a while ;) I went from 220 in January to 185 at the moment, and that's with a bit muscle gain to.

When I started back I was flat pressing the 50lbs, at the moment I flatpress the 85lbs, I can see some change to, it's nice.

Just got back to gymming a month ago. Im 5ft 6 and 118lb so I have to eat alot.. problem is my stomach can't hold much food. Can't really eat 5 meals a day as Im having long school hours.
Now considering whey protein or creatine to bulk.

I added obliques to my chest/tri routine and so far it seems to be very effective. I'd been neglecting them for a while, but better late than never. Tonight is a 3 mile run and tomorrow is back/arms/core.

Oy! I SO need to get back into the swing of things. I've found every excuse not to use the equipment I already own! ( NO excuse! ) The end result is a flabby FG. My chest has turned into a fine display of moobs. What kills is I still look in the mirror and see that other dude. The one with the actual muscles. I look like I ate the FG from 10 years ago :(

Not in the gym, but I train and do at least 2 half marathons a year. It gets to 12.5 mile runs every Sunday for a month before I taper for the last couple weeks. I've hit the best time I can for the training that I do (just running) so this year I'm going to be doing some weight training to strengthen my legs and see if I can hit my goal time.

welcome to my world.

Just got back from another evaluation- lost almost 5 lb, .9% body fat and about 2" from my waist in 5 weeks. Doing my lakefront stairs- 6 laps every time, letting my breathing settle down between sets of 2 laps. My endurance is getting a lot better and I recover really fast, now. Resting pulse is down in the low 60s.

After a few weeks of being distracted by life events, I got back to the gym again last night (a once-a-week routine). 30 minutes of treadmill running (usually 3-3.5 miles, depending on how sparky I'm feeling), and 30 minutes of weights. Since my time is limited, I focus on exercises that work out multiple muscle groups.

Along with some minor adjustments to my diet during the week (I allow myself more freedom on the weekends), I've lost 15 lbs since the start of the year, and have defintiely noticed some improvements in muscle structure in my upper body.

Well guys, I won't be in the thread for a while. I have a compression fracture in my T11 vertebra and will be unable to work out for an extended time frame. I go back Monday to figure out how serious it is, but at the very least, I'm completely unable to work or exercise.

Oh man sorry to hear that. Heal quickly.

I've hit a weightlifting slump this summer and have probably lost a bit of strength as a result, part of it may be a lapse in diet and stopping creatine. I also think I've been cheating at bench press which I've recently resolved with painful results... In a good way.

I started focusing on planting my feet, pulling my shoulders down and keeping my shoulder blades tight to the bench. I can only do #225 for 4 like that but I feel it way more in my chest.

Deadlifts have stagnated but I've resolved to stick to around #275 for reps. Squats are sticking around #275 for 8-10 which is fine by me, my hack squats are up to #360 for 4-6.
I really need to start running or doing something more for cardio but at 230 pounds running ain't as easy as it used to be.

Just got two new maxes last night:

Press: 200lbs
Front Squat: 305lbs

Nothing to write home about, but improvements from 6 months ago.

A 305 front squat Is pretty damn good. Congrats.

I just started doing them again after laying off for a few years. All quads and you cannot cheat on that lift.
