Really nice. How does the neck compare to a 400?
I had a similar Hagstrom that I put a mudbucker in the neck position. When blended with the bridge it sounded great. My '67 Hag II that I bought new and modified back in the late 60's or early 70's with 2 mudbuckers. The sound of the 2 mudbuckers is totally powerful and amazing. By having one at the bridge and mixing in just a bit of the neck pup their is a fantastic deep growl. The centered stock pup gives a very P like sound. The roundwound strings are still on from the 70's and I am scared to change them - the sound is too good. The neck is still the best and fastest neck I have ever experienced and so easy to play.
I also scored an identical mint '68 (with original case!) earlier this year to have one that is stock. I figure at some point I won't be able to handle the long scale any more and will go back to these great shorties.

Just got this nice hagstrom futurama in. Pretty unmolested light and fun to play. Body is wood and lacquer. Original Selmer croc case and strap. Serial 585312 so '63 or '64

@pantweller, I am interested in the Viking. If it's not inconvenient, would you mind measuring the width, across the body of bass at the widest part? It looks like it's maybe 14" or 15" wide. And did you buy a case or gig bag for it?Love my Hagstrom Viking — especially the the neck. A singer/guitarist/friend I’m playing with encouraged me to buy a semi-hollow bass; said we needed something “wicked warm sounding”. The Viking can do that and more.
Funny story. One of the fake pole pieces fell off. I emailed Hagstrom and they mailed me a whole new pickup! Thank you Andrea!
Now restrung the right way1964. #312 of 500 made in that run.
