The OFFICIAL (kinda) HONDO THREAD!!

Got my Hondo H815 Short Scale bass a few months ago. I always wanted a P Bass Shorty and it sounds really good. That being said, I bought a new wiring harness and some Stew Mac Golden Age P pickups anyway. Just want to hear if it improves the sound. Can’t wait to install and hear what the GA’s sound like.

Here's my 830 Deluxe. Brass Bridge and saddles, brass nut that I made, refretted with Jescar EVO gold, and fitted with a Wilde P46 pickup. It's a lovely bass to play, although it had some fret rattle before due to a kink at the 13-14th fret. I planed this out and did a complete re-fret. It plays like a dream; I just need to touch up the fingerboard varnish where I planed it.
I don't know what year this is from, or where it was made.
Oh-I also added a string tree for the A and E.

Grabbed one of these on a whim as I've been jonesing for a pbass and was open to picking up one that needs some work. Surprisingly, I don't think it needs a ton done. Maybe some screw replacements and a new bridge? One tuner is a bit loose? Regardless, I've played far worse Fender's in my life. Already fixed the intonation. Open notes are now measure flat with one octave up notes.

After being able to play a bit this morning, I've forgotten how much I love a pbass. Baseball bat neck be damned, it just feels good. The pickups also play really nicely with my board and effects. Gonna give it a live test with my bands stream this Thursday.

Picked up this 830 Deluxe yesterday for $80. I wanted a P bass that wasn't plywood to put some 1/4 Pounders in. It's a bit rough, but overall I'm happy with the purchase. I am on the fence about the bridge though. I have a super clean bridge just like this on a Epiphone Accu-bass that someone butchered. I also have a more modern bridge that I may use. Definitely need a new nut.

Hello fellow Hondo peeps!! I have some questions for the hive that are pretty specific. The Script Hondo logo started in 1978, but connected the letters at the bottom making the O look like an a. This was corrected in 1979 and was used until 1982 when they switched to the Rising Sun logo. So it is in those 3 years of the Script Hondo II logo the introduced the Professional series. My question is I have a script logo Hondo II (non professional) with a Rising Sun Truss cover Model 1181 Longhorn, but those didn't come out until 1982. The Script logo (in the 1181) didn't come in Walnut (which mine is) that was "Exciting New Colors" for 1982. So does anyone have a clue? (yes I know, the previous owner obviously wasn't a bassist nor a guitar guy. Strings need to be replaced and it needs a lot of TLC)

While we are all having conversations here again, has anyone had issues with their truss rods? I have an 830 Deluxe and the truss nut begins to turn to the right as you attempt to tighten it. It does tighten up, but doesn't seem to change the bow at all when tightening.

Hi guys! Can someone help me identify my Hondo Bass?
I can't tell if it's the 830 or the 83 model.
Greetings!

Wow.. This group has been sleeping for quite a while.. Well everyone now can sleep easy. My hunt for the ultra elusive H-1182 8/4 Longhorn may be over. Purchase is pending, but should be on its way from Texas to me in Wisconsin tomorrow.... OMG>... This is WAAY Super cool for me.
Will need pics when it arrives! I am about to send my neck out for repair. Then my Deluxe will be back together
