most Elwood L 5A are about 3,8 kilo .... sometimes a bit less

I have two very light basses, a short scale and an ultralight 34" scale jazz (7lbs). Both seem to sound good to me and get very low. So, I think it has more to do with the build quality, the electrics, and the player.

There are some things you can do to get the Frog lighter:
The NEW bridge that they are offering as standard is the lightest headless bridge option. (IE lighter than @BassmanM 's bridge)
Swamp ash body can be used to reduce body weight, and you can reach out to Adrian to ask for the lightest possible.
Roasted maple neck and fingerboard will reduce weight.
I believe carbon rods will reduce weight, but I am not 100% sure they use steel if you don't select this option.
32" medium scale or 33" "super" medium scale will both reduce weight.
For extreme weight reduction, you can of course go with a single pickup, or pair of single coils as opposed to big humbuckers.

indeed. Swamp ash is lightest option.

Frog bodies can't be be chambered

well a solid body with no top will always be ligther if that's the question..

I wouldn't worry too much about that though as some tops are super light anyways.

A spalted maple top is light as ******.....

maybe a coco bollo will change a lot... as it's much denser ... however i dunno

I've an Elwood L it's about 4kg but i know some lighter, some heavier, i don't think that in maruszczyk they verify all weight of all bass, some difference and discrepance are phisiological, the new Frog dichiarated much than previous with Delano Frog.

I was wondering, before I shoot Adrian a message - what are the short-scale & six-string options by Maruszczyk/Mensinger?

Elwood
Joker
Cazpar

any more?

I think a Joker 6p will be very close to the bass setup I'm hunting for but I need some more options.
(Got a shorty Elwood 5p on the way btw - still would be in time to change it to a 6 but a f-style bass is not my first choice for a 6)

Adrian calls the finish "Old Violin".....

Pick ups are Delano SBC4.....

How does the body resonate?......Not really sure how to answer that......

If you mean prone to feedback?.....No....
If you want to know if you can use it unplugged?.....No not really....

Don't know if you've seen this before but the specs for the Joker that Adrian is playing are identical to mine....

Thank you! It does sound and look great!

It doesn't seem to have the full hollowbody flavour I'm looking for, I suppose due to the relatively slim body. What I meant by 'resonant' in this case is how much the soundboard vibrates (like on acoustics) and adds to the tone.

But it could be the strings/pickup combination that I am hearing here, very smooth sounding. I would have to try one for myself. Or ask Adrian about a Joker XL

I seem to remember seeing a long scale Joker a while back....

I've been wrong before though.....:unsure:
