The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

my pike came in today. I'll post pics when it's set up.

any string suggestions? I prefer light nickels on my other basses.

Maruszczyck strings are good, i've one on my Elwood L4 long lasting, not twanging it depends from availability in stock if your bass come with nickel or steel.

Nowadays on my elwood i've the Rotosound 66 .96 bright and not exessively rought, good sound.

Is there an extended scale option in the configurator?

I've gone through both the Frog and Sputnik configs but don't see an option for extended scale or fanned... but I've seen fanned fret Frogs for sale, one on eBay now actually.

is this a custom option only?
Or not possible?

I have emailed Adrian a couple of times with requirements that were not listed. He assured me that everything I wanted could be done.
Some models are not available on certain scales. I read somewhere that fanned frets are available for an extra 150 but the best thing you can do is simply email him.

I assume your Cazpar arrived? How did the color turn out? NBD?

Can you please give me these dimensions of the Cazpar? It would help me a lot......

This is with some of the colors adjusted to look more like reality under 2700k 90+CRI leds. It pops more with the stock camera settings. Pops under bright lights and is subdued otherwise. Always liked the MTD matte finishes and this scratched that itch.

Setup was perfect out of the box. Excellent fretwork and playability. I tuned up a step to get the feel closer to what I'm used to. Sound samples online are pretty accurate. Favorite tones are with the outer coils selected. Sounds a lot like a modern active jazz in that setting.

Bass is passive with master, balance, tone, neck 4-way coil selector, bridge 4-way coil selector.

17mm string spacing. Roasted 3 piece maple neck with carbon rods. 30" scale.

I'm very happy with the results. My goal with this bass was to get MTD'ish looks and sound in a passive short-scale. This is my main bass now.

Looking forward to some custom balanced Newtone nickel wounds for my next set of strings.

Did any of you experience fret buzz on your instrument ?
There's a thread somewhere on facebook where some people would complain about this.
I'm a bit nervous since I have already ordered it and it should be finished in about a month or so.

I have had 3 Maruszczyk basses custom made for me (still own two) and had no issues with fret buzz at any time. The basses are delivered with pretty low action. So depending on the individual's playing style, there may be some buzz audible. However, this has nothing to do with the quality of the fretwork imho.

I know the thread on fb you mention and dislike the way one or two people are trying to make their individual problem to a general one.

In your position, I wouldn't worry. And even if there was any issue with your bass, I am certain Adrian would be glad to assist. That said, the person in the fb thread apparently neither contacted Adrian nor any other tech about his bass and just kept in in its case, then went to fb to start bashing. Not very fair if you ask me....

Of course, that's why I wasn't sure about it. Especially since, as you mentioned, maybe if they play with a pick and on the wrong side of the fret, it will certainly buzz with low action.

Thanks :).
