I had a Roscoe Century Standard 5 that was ash/maple with Bartolini pickups. I found that to be a lot more modern than this.

I was expecting a more aggressive tone, but was pleasantly, surprised by the smoothness. It isn't as really balanced and musical. I think part of it may be the Delano pre amp.

The EQ is very musical. I will try to post a video soon. What I can say is that each bass is uniquely voiced, but at the same time, I could confidently take each one to any gig.

I have a question for you Maruszczyk owning gentlemen (and ladies, if there are any around these parts) as to what is the usual response time for contact with Maruszczyk?

I emailed them on Sunday regarding a posible build but as this week is Easter week I am guessing that they may not be around this week, I am just wondering what the usual time frame is for aknowledgement of receipt (or reply)?

I am not in a rush, just curious.

I got a very quick reply to my original order mail.....

Later mail regarding "when will it be finished" type message went unanswered.....

Build took two weeks longer than original estimate....

It was worth the wait! :D

I sent an email on sunday afternoon and got a reply 20 minutes later, a few hours later we had the build planned, the next day everything was done and set in motion. very quick would be my answer to that from my experience. However I also need to point out that Adrian apparently doesn't answer "when will it be done" questions on principle, no matter how nice you word them.

Thanks but I'm in Spain.

I will leave it until next week in case they are on Easter vacation, if I don't get an answer by Tuesday or Wednesday I will try again.

Yes, the mail is correct. Bear in mind that he is the only one (as far as I know) taking care of the Maruszczyk matters, so probably, sometimes an email will be overlooked or what not.

Of course, you can send him a follow-up email. He usually replies really quickly to queries.

Regarding the other thing mentioned above, asking about when the bass will be finished: He will tell you a circa completion date, and that should be it then, you'll have to wait for him to send you a picture of the finished bass.

He will reply should you have any other technical questions about the build or changes to it, but it seems like people should him by his word considering the build time (which is ok in my eyes, though, also for me, waiting is really hard ;) )

That's unusual I would say. Adrian has always replied to my emails as soon as possible, either within an hour or first thing the next morning. I know he does travel a lot though, and they told me that he often doesn't have access to emails while on the road.

Thanks, as I said, I will give it a week in case they are on vacation or something then follow up next week. I mean, what's an extra week in the search of perfection? ;)

Yea, not sure what model you're thinking of getting but their Frog is as close to a perfect design as I've ever played. There aren't many basses out there that were designed from the ground up by a lifelong touring professional bass player, but the Frog is one, and it really shows.

The thing that has hooked me is the 30" Elwood. I am a lover of short scale basses, and recently discovered a neck that I find perfect for me. The Maruszczyk neck dimensions seem to be very similar, but I have asked if I could send the neck and have them copy the profile. I have also asked the posibility of making it active/passive.

I am actually very much hooked on one that they have in stock, but if the above options are possible/feasable then I will probably (depending on price) go the extra mile. It is the first time I have even thought about spending this much on a bass, but it does seem to offer amazing quality for the price. It would cost me more to build a Warmoth short scale which I am sure is not at this level (especially when I have to assemble it! :D )
