The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

Maruszcyk members. I'm considering listing my Elwood 5a-24. I would be asking $1000. Thought I would give club members a chance to chime in as you're already fans. Inquiries welcome.

This will put an end on how to pronounce "Maruszcyzyk" :)

Being fluent in Polish, that was hilarious...!!!

My wife and I have been bouncing the idea around of "retiring" back to Poland (She is from there, i was born in NYC but parents are from there).
If we do, I will have a field day at Maruszczyk....maybe even look for a job there...lol

Funny you say that as I am planning a vacation somewhere in Europe this summer... (I'm from NYC too) .... and after watching a lot of their awesome "showroom" videos on YouTube, I'm considering going to Poland on a leg of the trip to check the place out. Let us know if you go.

Eddie, I'm from "Greenpoint, Brooklyn" AKA "Little Poland" ... If you walk around parts of my neighborhood, you'd swear you were in Poland. Since you're originally from NY, you probably know the area I'm talking about.

No F'n way....so am I...!!!! You still live there?
I still have family there, though I moved to Va in 2011. I'm sure we'd have a lot to reminisce about...

I still go there every few months...it is t how it used to be...very little Poles still around. Now it's the Hipster Mecca.

There were a bunch of big-name movies filmed in the neighborhood during the 90's; Donnie Brasco, Sleepers, The Seige...
That stopped in the late 90's for whatever reason, but Showtime has been filming there lately; the last season of Homeland had a scene filmed right across the street from where I used to live, and in Billions, Chuck would meet people on the down-low in a huge, beautifully ornate church....happens to be the church I went to as a kid. Last night's episode (finale) has a scene inside and outside of the church.

Small world bro .... Yup, I actually live right on the black where HBO filmed "Girls" ... The film studios have taken over the industrial part of Greenpoint, I work right in that neighborhood too. It's nice to have a 5 minute commute from home to work :-) - I havent watched the second seasons of Billions yet but I know that church, on Manhattan Ave? I walk past it every day, I live around the corner.

You're absolutely right about the gentrification of Greenpoint over the last few years, it's chock full of hipsters but there's a cool contradiction between the old Polish vibe and the new Hipster vibe. The only thing I regret about living here is that I rent my apartment ... had I know it would have turned out how it is now, I would have bought!

If you're in the area sometime, link up ... we'll grab a drink!

The church in Billions is St. Stanislaw Kostka on the corner of Driggs and Humbolt.

When I was in NY, I did HVAC work for the film company in Greenpoint, I forgot the name but they were right next door to Luna Lighting. I think the owner's name was Ritchie...but that was like 16 years ago....foggy memory in my older age...
You know that store The Garden on Manhattan Ave/Kent street?
That's my family's place. If you have ever gone in there between 1995 and 1998, we may have crossed paths and I may have made you a Cappucino or a carrot Juice at some point...

Wow!! Of course I know "The Garden" I live on India St and Manhattan Ave .... The Garden is a great market. I'm in there at least once or twice a week. Now THAT place has gone "hipster" too .... but it was hipster before the word hipster was associated with North Brooklyn :)

I haven't been to the store since I moved in 2011...I kind of had a falling out with one of my uncles who manages the floor...
Another of my uncles is way cool, though...he stays in the office and manages merchandise and operations.
He's one to blast Sabbath and Deep Purple on occasion...
