I just measured my Elwood and Cazpar 5's, which have 18" bridge spacing and 21 and 22 frets respectively. The neck width at the last fret (widest spot) is 72mm on both. I would expect 24 fret models wouldn't be much beyond that if at all (ie not all the way to 74 mm...but folks with 24 frets can chime in)

Regarding your 5-string with 18mm string spacing, could you please measure the width at the body? The one I'm looking at has 18mm string spacing.
If the 17mm one has a width of 70mm, then logically the 18mm one will have a width of 74mm I'm guessing.

Just to throw another couple of data points on the barbie, my Cazpar 5-string with 16mm spacing at the bridge is 50mm at the nut and 69mm at the last (22nd) fret.

Note: I bought this bass used, so I didn't do the configuration (but I'm happy that the spacing happened to be as tight as it is).

To your point, what you get from the configurator is so close to what you actually get. I had to ask Adrian about the pickup size when I decided to go with the Bassculture DC5 pickups, because as you can see from the configurator picture below, they are definitely disproportionate to the actual size. He explained they are the standard EMG 40 size pickups. Glad he was right, because the spacing between the pickups didn't look right.

Yeah, that's amazing... that's a good side-by-side comparison.
And the pleasant surprise is how cool the actual top looks and the matching headstock is really slick.

i have a request and a question. request is, can someone post or link somewhere in this thread a pic of their jazz bass and P bass models with the 24 frets option? i want to see what the real world upper register access looks like. the configuator is just an artificial rendering and i know not entirely accurate.
the question is, am i dreaming or do they not offer candy apple red??!!

@xbud is that Blue Burst on your new Jake 5a?
I was on the fence with Two Tone Blue and then seeing yours has me rethinking it.

Then the LEDs just did me in and I HAD to start playing with the configurator again! But I already have a Frog 5a headless (which I love) but I wish the body was a bit more petite, so looking at the Sputnik as an alternative, as I think it is about 1" smaller top-to-bottom.

Are there any Sputnik owners out there that could please do a quick measurement on the body (top to bottom), pretty please?

I also have to email him to find out the cost on the LED option, but here's my "enhanced" visualization with a side-by-side comparison to help with the decision... Sputnik vs. Frog and Blue Burst vs. 2 Tone Blue.
