I'm not a big fan of dots. I'd rather have nothing with a cool fingerboard or blocks on a basic fingerboard.

Like some other comments here, I generally prefer blocks, but on the Frog I don't think they look right (just imho). I'm struggling w/ the same thing right now in my Frog build. I wanna do blocks but they feel off. I'm even considering maybe going with the stripes option that the Jazzus has (pretty sure Adrian would do that). Maybe the stripes would look less overwhelming on the FB.
The other thing I'm considering is going with blocks but having them blend in more with the FB which would mean going with a wood block inlay option which would be more money. If you take a look at the Frog bass on the main instrument page, that's the look I'm shooting for -- something like an east indian fb w/ walnut inlays. The wooden inlays don't "scream" as much as, say, abalone or MoP or acrylic. I think the Frog is hard to configure for because the body alone is crazy enough by itself, so adding more "bling" makes it feel like one of those puke-worthy Ritters.
I agree with you. I generally like maple FBs. I figured the flame roasted option would look nice when looked at closely but wouldn't be too over the top. I'm building a Frog headless so it's kind of over the top to begin with! My headless Elwood is a bit more traditional but It's headless too. The purists will condemn me. Traditionally we're supposed to blend into the background. I think of it as a conversation piece. People will come up to me and ask me about the other headless basses I have owned in the past. I've stated before that I'm a headless fan. I like the ergonomics and that it's more compact etc.
What types of gigs do you do? Will your band leader/ mates accept it?

Hey Salad I'm doing a Frog headless as well but you got me thinking... the Jazz is pretty much my "IT" body shape and I never thought of doing a headless Elwood. D'oh!

Traditionalists -- while I was never 100% sold on the tone, I loved gigging with my Steinberger back in the day. We were prog so it never looked out of place and surprisingly I got very few comments from a headless angle.
And it seems like headless is hitting a cycle again. Fodera seems to be doing quite a few for artists with the overhead storage/traveling reason being the big upside.
I love headless because I'm lazy, hate changing strings and love the overall look.
My bass is being built still and to my knowledge there's only one other. Adrian sent me a picture of a 4 string Elwood L. I'll attach it and my config picture that has a headstock. There maybe some headless Jazzus basses too. I ordered black ETS hardware with Delano SC pups (removeable ramp) and Aguilar OBP-1 preamp
I like dots myself and I'm more keen on the offset dots now that I've seen some from the configurator. I think they look pretty hip on your build.

Black is always my usual go to but for whatever reason it doesn't work for me on the Frog. I'm not a burst-y guy but I do like the Brandy and Old Violin. I think the Brandy looks great on the Frog.
White Ebony -- don't let me dissuade you... I think it looks ugly. I think on the right build it could be killer. But I would absolutely have to see the fb blank first before pulling the trigger. Too variable for me to chance it otherwise.

I'm a Fender guy that's just about had it with being a Fender guy. It would seem to me that for the price of a regular same old, same old AP2 Fender, you can get a stunning Maruszczyk instead. The colour choices are amazing! Their 2-tone burst is nothing like Fender's and much nicer. Just stunning! 21 frets too! I wants me a 32" scale Jake.
I'm having such a good time with their configurator atm.

The configurator is great. I built up my 'dream' Elwood Jazz Bass copy for several hundred less than the 7ender American Professional 2.Just checking out this thread and there's so many nice basses on here.

I cant decide if I want an Elwood 4 or a Frog 5. I just might have to get both
Yes! Ikr? I made up a stunning lefty Jake last night that you would never see come out of Fender in a million years. I do wish they would offer vintage radiussed fingerboards though.
I'm having problems saving it though. I made an account/profile last night but now it's not letting me log in.

Weird! I was making the above post then it switches to their website showing my order. Every attempt to edit it resulted in the same. Pretty odd.
I get it. I was under the impression they would show me the piece to approve it before placing it. To be honest, I'm only interested because it look awesome, but I'm more interested on the rosewood. I just have not found a color combination to pair with the rosewood that helps me stay in budget.
