I mean... not really, no. The Elwood is similar. The Jazzus reminds me of a hybrid of a P bass and a Wal MkI. I love the look, personally.

Ah that’s good to know, neither of the 2 basses that I owned with this bridge had the saddles ‘locked’. So during adjustments, I thought both screws on the top/back were height adjustment equally (although I kept them fairly low)The one on the front locks the saddle insert.

Agreed on the convenience to have a Preamp on your bass for quick EQ fix. I love to have a tone control, and a sweepable Mid frequency to cut thru the mix. However the acoustics on few venues call for a fix on the amp to avoid the boom. That is why I love Messa Boogie Hipass Filter, it roll off the low frequencies without loosing the body.
My gut tells me it's bigger overall, though with a smaller lower horn. Curious about this as well.
Elwoods may be an inaccurate comparison because something tells me they're slightly smaller than a Jazz, but I might be misremembering an old post from this thread.
Man, that's no joke. Seeing the position markers on a stage with tricky lighting can sometimes be problematic. I solved the problem on other basses with fishing lure stickers. I tried the Luminlay markers on my Frog and they do the job quite effectively. Any future Maruszczyk bass I order will have them.Man I can’t live without Luminlay side dotsfor $50
Yeah, I appreciate that statement for sure. Cost of materials is $30 per tiny stick, so the cost is reasonable… when I’m on a dark stage and look down I expect to see this, especially since I have no fret markers on any of my basses.

I have a hp filter on both of my Acoustic Image amps. I do miss it on Trickfish BH1k. It's a great tool to have for small stages. I've been lucky that most of the stages have been large or outdoors. But the small local shows I do it's a lifesaver!
Can anyone share examples of their Maruszczyk w/ more "tame" top woods? I think now I'm leaning toward less ornate figuring... simpler stuff like bubinga, korina, cocobolo, rosewood, etc.

I have this interesting subtle Spalted Maple top on my Elwood and a Koa top on my Jake. I chose this Bubinga top for my Mr. Tee currently being built . I wanted Carribean rosewood for the top on the Mr. Tee but Adrian didn't have any in-stock that I liked so I went with Bubinga. Almost same color tone.

I never gave too much thought to spalted maple until I just saw Gwizdala's newest F Bass. And now I seem to be spalted crazy, lol. Not as outrageously figured as a burl or laurel, but very understated details.
Not super crazy about the spalted examples they have listed now but maybe they'll have more pieces in stock by the time I order.
I love spalted maple. I have seen some that are quite figured and some with not much. I have a bass with some spalted maple on it that is about as plain of a spalted grain as I have seen. It is simple and IMO looks great. Not a Maruszczyk but I will post a picture anyway. LOL
Not sure if this is to much of a grain, but ziricote can be a bit tame at times. Here is the top on my build I am having done now.

I have a ziricote fretboard on my Adamovic bass that I hope to have within a month or so. I have no idea what it looks like, but I can tell you the knobs and the pickup covers will be made from ziricote as well, and maybe even from the same piece of wood.
Just for reference, this finger board and knobs are Ziricote. It has nice figuring and is pretty dense and oily like ebony.
I'm still considering ziricote because despite the insane detailing it's also subtle due to the subtle contrasts. Love it because it has this aquatic chocolate waves/landscape vibe to it.
I was recently on reverb and saw a Lakland that, imho, looked like sh*t (of course, I just searched and it's no longer there). An insane burl top stained yellow and it was so busy it looked like a leper zombie had vomited all over the top. It just screams look at me, don't listen to what I'm playing. Not my vibe, I guess!
I had 3 basses like that, all Fretless.

What I didn’t like was not exactly the intonation screws but the ability to modify the height of the strings. The only way was to remove the Bridge and install some shins under. Too much hassle.
I will go for a Hipshot A Aluminum Bridge to have control over intonation and height. Necks move with the season changes.
