Wow! Stunning basses but maybe Adrian will make bass like that? As I know Maruszczyk basses can be customize more than just options in configurator so why not asking for that kind of customization (or at least close to that?).

Perhaps he could. But in this case, the company is local to me, within a 3 hour drive. If I were to order one of their basses, I would drive there and meet the builders personally. That would also allow me to try their basses and see their facilities.

I would do the same thing with Maruszczyk if I was in Poland.

I’m in the market for a new headless and am torn between a 32” Frog, a 32” Elwood L and a 30” Vader. (I already own a full scale Vader.)

Are there any quality control issues with the Maruszczyk basses that I should know? I’ve heard of at least one with a pretty jacked up neck straight from the factory. Yes, I realize that one could be an anomaly, that’s why I’m asking here. (I love me Vader, and I’ve read horror stories about Kiesel).

And, if anyone has owned both a Frog and an Elwood L headless, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the feel of each. (I know it’s subjective.) I have multiple shoulder issues and am looking for something more comfortable as far as reach, weight and playability. Thanks

I have owned 7 basses from Adrian and currently have 4 of them and 1 on order. All of the basses that I have received have been set up with super low action. Lower than I would play and need to put a little bit of relief in the neck. Not much, mind you....but a little bit. Also important to know that the truss rod adjustment is opposite the majority of bass guitars. Counter clockwise will tighten. After giving a little bit of relief to the neck/truss rod, I find that they are the nicest, easiest playing basses that I own. I have never had an issue with anything through the years. Only exception is that some gold plating is wearing off on the bridge from my palm muting wear....that is to be expected, however.

Super subjective question, it works probably best to state exactly what you’re looking for or are comparing against.

I’ve never owned any Kiesels but owned a Frog headless 34” 5 and still own a headless Cazpar 32” 5 which is essentially a smaller version on the Frog body (24 frets). I can tell you the reach for both of these is easy on the left shoulder since the upper horn provides great ergonomics, the 34” felt more like a 32” due to this design… happy to answer questions about either of these.

Not sure about the random negative neck issues you mentioned, but details would be helpful if you’re looking for something specific. And I’m sure you can find at least one person with negative comments if that’s what you’re really after. I however have been quite pleased with design and build quality for the basses I’ve ordered/owned.

I have a Frog and a Vader. I would order from either builder again. I consider both to have similar high quality (i.e. high quality but maybe not Fodera-custom high). You can get a wonky neck from anyone, if it passes their 'QC'. Just pick the bass you like the most. For Elwood vs Frog, I'd say pick the one that looks better to you, with identical specs otherwise.

Elwood changes body size with scale length, but I assume the frog remains the same.
So 32" Frog's strap button on the upper horn is between the 10th and 11th frets, and the 0th fret may seem closer.
Unfortunately I am not good at English so I can't tell you much.

I have hard time deciding cause on You tube videos they all sound prety much the same (thou, most do have same Bassculture pu)and most are played the same way (right hand close to fingerboard) which is exactly the way I do not play it.
Anyway, you like the playability? I'd go with 34" and 5 string which is harder to get low set up than 30"or 33"

I have a Fretless 32" Elwood L 5: fingerboard quality is excellent, strung both B-G and E-C. The bass was delivered with a low action, and I've lowered it a bit more.

Your English is perfectly fine. The only thing I'd change in your post is to not put the "th" behind the "0" -- but I understand why you did it.

OK, fellow Maruszczyk players, give me your opinion of my current idea for a new bass.

I recently bought a G&L Tribute Fallout. I love the sounds I get from the MFD pickups and G&Ls OMG circuit. What I don't like are the ergonomics. First, it weighs a tad over nine pounds, which is significantly more than both my swamp ash Jake short scale and my CIJ Mustang. It does balance well, but my back really missed my Jake on a four-hour gig with the Fallout a couple weeks ago. I also prefer a Jazz width neck and the Fallout is in the P bass range. Aesthetically, the Fallout is Olympic white, which is not bad but uninspired and since my Mustang is also white, I'd really like something different.

So, what I'm thinking is a Moped made to my specs including a G&L MFD pickup in the same position as on the Fallout. I contact Randy at Bass Spotlight and was advised that I could probably obtain the pickup and send it to Adrian's shop and they would make it work. Ideally, I'd like this to be 30", but Randy checked with Adrian and that's a no-go, so I'll have to live with 32".

My other specs include a chambered ash body, charcoal burst with matching headstock, a bound wenge board and black Hipshot hardware.

I know what you mean about the MFD pickups, I tried the best I could to live with a baseball bat for a neck to keep that sound in my arsenal, but unfortunately I couldnt make it work. If your just looking for that MFD growl and versatility the Delano MC5 FE/M2's and SBC Time Squares will get you extremely close.....fwiw.

Been to Adrians Shop yesterday for some 3hrs... Although he "only" had about 90 basses in the store it was a very pleasant experience! A little bit like a child in the candy shop...
My buddy was looking for a 32" Bass as he struggles with normal long scales and misses "the sound" on his shorties. He ended up buying a 32" Elwood which played like a charm!

I tested several 5 string basses, beautiful looking Elwoods with eye poplar tops e.g. There was one black Elwood 5a with Delano Xtenders which sounded simply stunning - this got me on the track of a Jazzus with the same PUs and that one cried "take me with you" all the time...

So easy to play, so delicious sounding, very nice look. The picture I did with my mobile phone doesn't do justice to it - it's in every detail stunning in reality!
The thing was that I have a 5 string SR1345 and the is no explanation for two... I also fiddled around later with the configurator and came to a slight different setup with even higher price So I'm waiting for the right time to get something like this:

After all the bass testing we had a very nice chat with Adrian and I got some ideas for my b-string on my Ibanez. I you are around the Cologne/Aachen area, don't miss to visit him!

So I'm a guitar player but I've been playing my Marcus Miller V7 a lot recently, and had a lot of fun with it, and thought maybe it's time I upgrade to a proper Jazz. Initially I was thinking Japanese Fender or an American Pro II, but somehow came across Maruszczyk and realized I can get a great J-style with all the eye candy you could want for approximately the price of a Pro II. So here's what I'm about to pull the trigger on.

Basically I want a J that sounds like a J, so I'm not sure if I should change the stock bridge and/or get a preamp. Probably stainless steel frets. I'm unlikely to get a second high end bass so I really want to spec this one right, but luckily there's no time pressure so I can take all the time to think I need.

Tried the chicken chase they have now over Easter, but I quickly realized there's way too many configuration combinations to wade through so someone else'll get that nice 50% off.

I received my 30" Mr Tee this past week and it is all I was hoping for in terms of weight and playability.
It weighs 6.4 lbs and is very balanced with zero neck dive. I chose the BassCulture single coil pickup because I wanted to try it out and it was no extra charge as a pickup option. It seems though to have low output and has a bit of noise cause it is single coil I imagine but it does sound good at low volume. Yesterday I ordered a custom Lindy Fralin split 51 with an overwind of +5% and pole pieces to match the 12" fb radius a bit better. I will see the difference when it arrives and I install it. I also added a custom Macassar Ebony stacked knob to match with the fretboard that I picked up from dknob.com and installed a set of Schaller locking strap buttons. Very happy with how it turned out.
