Woke up this morning to this couch shot. Stunning red Jake 4A-21 with Maruszczyk Split Coil with a Darkstar Tone Capsule preamp. 9-10 week build time.

Damn, that's nice! I have built a red/tort Jake numerous times in the configurator myself.
Been looking closely at Dingwalls but also seeing Maruszczyk posts on facebook, and was curious about those. When this popped up in the classifieds I had to jump on it. Deal was good and the specs were what I have been wanting to change on my Sire V10 - now I have 24 frets, 35 to 33 scale, 3+2 headstock.
Not bad for 75% less than a Dingwall Super J, eh?

I suffer from old timers disease sometimes ;-). I actually like the Darkglass Tone Capsule, have it installed in several of MY basses, and recommend it on many of the builds I order.Heck I was wondering what a Darkstar was

This is definitely not the route I would have expected my Frog to take from the Fedex hub in TN to NY.
Me too. I am thinking we have the start of a new line of bass products.. Darkstar active electronics with an X-Wing bridge and Y-Wing tuners. Sound awesome to me!

I agree! Lately most of my configurator noodling has been various takes on a Joker. Buying into a bass with a larger body would be a leap of faith. Sure wish I could play one first.
