Hey folks. I'm attempting to thin my Maruszczyk/Mensinger herd (from six to five.) I had a listing in the states a couple of years ago before I re-strung this bass to E-C. Now that I'm in France, I've re-created the listing in the international section, but I'll still entertain shipping outside the country/continent. If it's ok I thought I'd share the link just to get some eyes on it.

Before restringing it, how did you like the B?
I liked it, but I liked my Cazpar 32 5 above the 5th fret more, so decided to experiment with the E-C thing, which has been fun but made me realize I should have really spec'd a narrow (17) spacing and 22 frets to really go there.
Elwood 30" - looking for string recommendations

Searched the whole thread, but couldn't find anything specifically relevant. Looking for String recommendations for a 4-string Passive Elwood 30" (short scale).
The original Maru string that came with it were very decent, but now it's time to try something different. Looking for some options.
So, any recommendations for good-sounding high-quality strings that would work well on a 30" passive Elwood with the basic Maru J single coil pickups?
As a comment, ideally the sound should be on the bright side (but not overly so) , and going up from the current 90 gauge to something like 100 could also be desirable, to get a bit more tension on the E string.

Rounds or flats?
I have the same setup- passive Elwood with Maru single coils. I'm a flats user, and I like the sound and feel of Ernie Ball Cobalt flats on my Elwood.
Have you checked the Short Scale TB club? Lots of string discussions there for 30-inchers.

I like rounds and for my 30" Maru's I usually use DR short scale Hi-Beans 45-105's or I use Dunlop short scale stainless steel 45-105's . Both have great tension, last long and are bright. I usually like 40-100's on other longer scale basses but for the 30" scale I find I like 45-105's more.
Well, it was ready a bit sooner than I expected - but that's great. The bass also looks great:

The bass came with round wounds, and I play flat wounds exclusively.

Since the original E string is 0.090 gauge, I was wondering if installing a 0.105 would require modifying the nut to make it fit. Could you share your experience with this? And also, a bit about your opinion on how they sound on the 30" Elwood after some setting-in? Thanks
The strings fit right in, zero modifications required. Here are some pics:

Regarding the sound, I installed EMG JV52's in that instrument so it's not going to sound like yours. It also needs a setup because I changed the bridge, and the strings are buzzing too much.
That best sounding basses that I have right now are my other 30" Elwood and a JB62SS. Both sound more aggressive compared to the blue Elwood. My teacher also loves the sound of the brown Elwood, and has remarked that the Fender has quite a growl to it.
That brown Elwood was ordered with flats, and the Fender has the same LaBellas as the blue Elwood.
The nut looks like the A string slot needs to be filed down a bit more. It's the only string where the break angle isn't visible over the zero fret. That might be contributing to any buzzing.
Good one, regarding the break angle. Although currently all the stings are buzzing due to an improper setup, I'll file it down to eliminate the possibility for the A string to be an issue.
This one was ordered with flats, and you can see that the nut was set up properly by the luthiers:
