I had a request for an odd color (transparent baby blue) and that’s when Randy was able to offer some options that had been previously done. Blue Jeans is now in the configurator so I guess that’s how they arrive at new color choices.

So, I have had this amazing instrument since June last year and I still am totally blown away whenever I pick it up. It`s a custom Elwood 6A which I bought second hand. The looks, the beauty, the craftmanship and the tone.

I`m so grateful to you, Johan for beeing willing to sell it to me!

So I just got turned on to these. There's one listed locally for a good price that I'm very tempted by, but then after looking at the website I think I'm keen to order a custom build. Just wondering if anyone has the Jake TB? I badly want the tbird sound in a Fender style body and this looks damn perfect. Just hoping to get some feedback on it. Thanks!

  • Medium scale
  • Roasted Maple neck with Ebony fingerboard
  • Pickups: Delano Times Square
  • Preamp: John East Uni Pre 4 plus series/parallel/single coil switches for each pickup
  • Hipshot bridge (string through) and tuners
Bartek from Gorny Music has been a pleasure to deal with and he knows his stuff. Now for the 3-4 month wait!

How do you like that Monorail bridge, is it as easy to adjust as the other Hipshot units in your opinion?

The monorail bridge differs by having sliding saddles with lock-screws rather than adjustment screws. Same results, different procedure. Whether one is simpler than the other depends on your perspective.

I paid the extra for a Hipshot bridge because I like having the adjustment screw. For me, it's simpler.

Because I’m a fan of the Sadowsky pre and its simplicity, I did the Aguilar OBP-1 SK, which has the passive tone control. On my other basses with it, I typically just use the tone control and leave the pre set flat.

With that said, the only thing I’m a bit confused about looking at the photo, is why it has two battery boxes. Guess I’ll find out soon enough.

I can only recall one person not being happy with his bass. Apart from that I have never heard a bad word about Maruszczyk instruments.

I got the Maruszczyk Toneformer 3MS/TP for the same reasons (except I don't have a history with Sadowsky preamps) -- simple, and has a passive tone control. And I like the controls set flat.

The two battery boxes are for two batteries, silly. I use two batteries. Your preamp might need only one, but two guarantees they'll last longer, and might give you some additional bandwidth. (Or headroom, or whatever.)

Agree with you... the OBP can do 9v/18v I use the OBP-3 and wire up with a passive (active) tone control on a stack with volume, I have several basses with this layout and usually put the Mid on a push/pull for the 400/800hz selection.

That’s what I had figured - that it ended up wired as 18v. Placement of the boxes threw me off a bit. Figured it might be a result of the electronics cavity and tone chambering why the second was up higher. Either way, it’s all good with me, just excited to get it! :bassist:
