That’s what I had figured - that it ended up wired as 18v. Placement of the boxes threw me off a bit. Figured it might be a result of the electronics cavity and tone chambering why the second was up higher. Either way, it’s all good with me, just excited to get it!

Maru's battery box placement actually follows these simple rules:

1. The first battery box goes near to the electronics cavity
2. When the bass body is being hung up to dry after having the finish applied, a trained luthier chucks a dart at the back from ten yards away. Wherever it pierces the body, that's where the second battery box goes.

After studying hundreds of couch pics, this is the only possible conclusion to draw.

I paid the extra for a Hipshot bridge because I like having the adjustment screw. For me, it's simpler.

It looks like the monorail is currently the only option if you want 17mm spacing, which is my preference. Hipshot is not making their other bridges with 17 mm spacing anymore.

The B-style bridges are no longer available with narrow spacing. The A-style bridges still appear to be.

Hmmm. I might have to send them a bridge, if I ever get to the point where I can order a new bass from them.

They have removed a lot of options for B to C, however I expect they will still make deleted spacings for builders, especially if they're buying in bulk. The only real outlay Hipshot have bar raw material is the CNC designs, if they've already created them, they can do them again.

I ordered my Jake with an A-style 17.5mm at the end of January. I had to ask in the additional comments field.

When the time comes, I'll just send Adrian a bridge. I bought 2 17mm units from eBay a while ago; a Vintage and a B-style.

Nevertheless, narrow string spacings are available on Hipshot A style 4 and 6 string bridges, too.

After a short delay in customs, this arrived today! Still tweaking the setup to my liking after changing strings to my preferred Elixirs, but I’m extremely pleased with how this turned out.

I love my DCB’s, I have them in multiple basses and even passive they sound really good.

Curious question for the Maruszczyk hive, with the previous discussion about bridges why don’t more folks go for the Hipshot Kickass bridge?

They are nice bridges, I’ve bought several of these for builds that I’ve done. I think they’re a better value ($65-100) and in many ways a better bridge than most others.

Why? …the string spacing adjustment is much better than many other bridges, including the other hipshot alternatives. The brass insert saddles have quite a bit of lateral adjustment as you can see in this pict and the bridge comes in black, chrome, gold and nickel.

So why don’t more people order these?

I'll speak for myself. They're heavy, and you have to thread the strings through the back end when putting on new strings. I got a KickAss bridge to go on a bass specifically for the large footprint, because I wanted to cover some indentation that occurred prior to me owning it. It serves the purpose just fine, but having tried one, I would just prefer to use a Hipshot A bridge if given the choice.

I’m diggin’ them so far! Seem a smidge more compressed than the Sadowsky soapbars I’m currently playing and used to. But I’m glad I went with them overall, sound great!
