Yeah, not easy to be patient, I know mate, also took a couple of weeks longer for my last build. Adrian says they have been really busy in the past time, especially in the whole christmas time. Plus, they are expanding production facilities at the moment, so there will be a new workshop video some time in the future!

I've ordered mine beginning of November, to ease the wait I'm focusing on playing a ton until Adrian's mail surprises me.

I have a long wait ahead of me, considering that I just recently put in my order, but I can't help but feel a bit of solace knowing that extended wait time isn't due to shady practices, its due to the company growing. If that means I have to wait a little bit longer for Adrian and his team to create my bass to the absolute best of their abilities then so be it. Maruszczyk growth has to be a result of the quality of their product and thats something that should be celebrated.

I totally agree with you and I hope they will be worldwide succesfull. I can’t help thinking though, that if I had a company like that I’d hire someone to do the PR stuff and for instance let customers see the progress of there bass. For example with pictures and stuff and make it a more adventurous. That’s no criticism though cause I think that the main reason the prices of f the basses or affordable , is because of the way that they do it now. So I also have a lot of respect for staying authentic!!! I’ll just have to wait....

I totally agree. When I asked if there would be any progress reports on my build I was met with a big fat "Nope!". Transparency is key, never want to keep your customers guessing, but at the same time I realize that these guys have been operating at a much smaller scale for years so the recent attention they've been getting from the world must not only be overwhelming but completely foreign so they may just be unaware that certain practices may need to be reevaluated to meet demand.

Mine was about that much late as well. They should probably not be so optimistic with their advertised completion times. Let's face it, even 18 weeks is so much better than most places that do custom orders.

I totally agree. When I asked if there would be any progress reports on my build I was met with a big fat "Nope!". Transparency is key, never want to keep your customers guessing, but at the same time I realize that these guys have been operating at a much smaller scale for years so the recent attention they've been getting from the world must not only be overwhelming but completely foreign so they may just be unaware that certain practices may need to be reevaluated to meet demand.

You are told very clearly when you order that you'll get the "sofa shot" of your bass when it's ready....

If they spent all of their time answering "where's my bass" questions from distrustful customers then the basses would take even longer to produce.....

Just because they're not from 'murica doesn't mean that they are lying crooks....

In fact, in my experience, they are LESS likely to be so.....

Just my 2 euros worth....

Its not every day that someone can see what it looks like in a Luither's workshop even more so it creates a more personal experience for the customer to see what their instrument looks like in its various stages. The idea is more out of fun similar to when an expecting mother goes to an ultrasound, obviously more to an ultra sound it then just seen a baby grow, its just incredible to witness growth/change/shaping of the creation, work of art that is going to be delivered to you.

Truth be told, I did ask for two major changes in the middle of the build! One in the first month of the build and another one in the second. On the two occasions Adrian answered in the same day and said "no problem". It wasn't minor things, it was major changes. One was to go back from 24 to 21 frets and the second one was to put dark fretlines when I said I didn't want any. He is there, don't worry.

What I am going to say next is not to be misinterpreted. Please, this is not prejudice, it's just how things are.

I think you are forgetting (particularly the americans) that you are talking to an European, particularly to a Pole. Eastern Europe countries are tipically less "open" when it comes to personality. Europeans are very different from Americans, and in Europe there are big personality diferences. Those answers that Adrien gives, the "Ok", the "No problem", etc., doesn't surprise me at all. Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, etc.. If you talk to a guy from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, France, it's completely different. Not better or worse, just different.

Americans are a lot more extrovert, not like here in Europe.

Sadowsky was the only one who provided photos of the build and it was just one shot of the painted body to make sure the color was right. None provided an update as they were building. Wait times ranged from several weeks to 17 months.

Think about it this way. Would you rather have the builder focus on building to taking photos? I'd rather have the builder do what he does best. In the end, the wait will be worth it.

Not only that, what seems like a quick thing to do, isn't. Imagine Adrian having to take pictures of ALL the basses being built!

Body before cut, body already cut, paint, routing, neck, fretboard, assembling, etc., etc.. That means hundreds of photos, hundreds of e-mails, hours spent organizing the photos, storing them, and so on. He probably would need another employee. He is not building just a handful of instruments, don't forget that.

What it would probably happen is that the prices would go up. A boutique bass at 1500 euros? That's awesome! For me it's fine that way, don't raise the prices and I will settle for the couch photo and the instrument!

Adrian isn't actually building the basses himself. In fact, he's generally in a different country (Germany). That's why getting updates is so difficult. He can't just walk over and check. He has to contact someone in the workshop and they have to stop what they are doing and go look into the inquiry... I get why they don't want to do it - it's a huge time suck.
