The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

I've had three Maruszczyk basses now. A Jake P/J and two Frogs. Check my profile page and you can see how many basses I've owned over the years. So for comparison sake, my experience with Maruszczyk instruments is that the B strings are balanced with the rest of the strings. That might be a good thing for you depending on your perspective. But I would not say that Maruszczyk basses are going to be known for having a solid B. They are OK. Not in the league of Roscoe, Spector, or Dingwall. Note that all of those manufacturers typically use 35" or higher scale.

I think it's a matter of set up. I've owned Ken Smith, Spector, Gibson, Roscoe, 2 5 string Maruszczyks as well as others...

There are some basses that are set up for a flat neck. Not so with Maruszczyk, you need a little bow in order to have a nice tight B string. Your action can still be low, but it takes a moment to get the set up right.

Of course, each person has a different preference when setting up the instrument. Perhaps what is required to get these set doesn't align with your preferences...

Wait, wouldn't Dingwall be 37? I thought that was what the fanned frets were, about 37 to 32.

Nah. I've set up tons of basses. It is true Maruszczyk basses don't take the same low set up as others. The B strings are just not as present as on others. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Is that because of the zero fret?

Just put in my order for a 6 string Paddock with a walnut top and body. Went with a flamed maple 5 piece neck with walnut stringers and a birds eye fingerboard. ETS 2 piece bridge, knobs(not shown in image) and Hipshot tuners. I opted to go with Aguilar DCB pups and just send Adrian a Mike Pope Flexcore Preamp. Pretty excited about this build 15 weeks couldn't come any sooner!

Had to substitute the Frog body due to the public peace site not supporting the Paddock model in the custom section.

Surely Adrian would have taken a written order for a custom paddock?.....No???...
