The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

Anyone had a chance to play on their Paddock 5a? Really digging the sound and it looks amazing. The bass in the clip used a Glockenclang preamp but their website lists one using a Delano preamp. Not sure of the difference between the two.

Wow, that's beautiful! Looks a bit like the "Hellwood" .... that bass tone in the opening song of the video is awesome .... so is the tone during the demo portion.

Also interesting is his fingering style ... check it out at the 2:45 mark, he uses his first and third finger, skipping the second ... I've never seen that before.

Damn GAS!!!!

Hi Spreck76,

you can have what ever you want to!!!
There are "basses on stock" - which only means that these have been built and are testable in Aldenhoven (and shiping the same day). My "Jake" was on stock but had a white pickguard. I wanted a black pickgurad and Adrian said: "No problem!". Only problem was the flooding in Poland in 2006, so I got the pickguard two weeks later.

If you pay for the Glockenklang preamp, you will get one! Want a grey alder body with black wood texture? Or a pink bass? You get one! (see other basses on/off stock).

Send an email to Adrian (info address).
I don't know how good his English is, but I am sure they will manage!!!

As far as I know Glockenklang isn't available anymore (TBC though, could be wrong, i suppose can always be bought on request) ... but as for the rest....

sky is the limit indeed.... if its stock and parts are there to be switched / swapped ....i suppose anything is possible.

custom wise ... the only thing he ever turned down was a customer of mine asking for custom shape ... so literally the Galaxy is the limit ...

I think Adrian and his crew can answer best.
He can not turn water into wine (if Glockenklang doesn't sell anymore) but Adrian and his crew know "what's next.
By the way, the DELANO company in Düsseldorf is only about 50 miles away from Aldenhoven.
And Bass Culture (PUs in Paddock) is situated in Neuss, less 50 miles from Aldenhoven! All three are in the "Lower Rhine Area" ("One Bridge too far" where 82. and 101. US Airborne tried to enter Germany during WWII). How do I know? I'm from the district of Cleve (40 miles North) and now only have to live in the Ruhrgebiet (100 miles away)...

The Pupblic Peace email support is excellent!!!
Contact Adrian and his crew to find out what's possible.

Is the guy in the Paddock video Adrian's son?!
He sounds like me like a "Polish German" speaking English...

Cool, thanks guys. Great info and insight. I'll check it out. Thinking of pulling the trigger. We'll see.

basically anything is possible. Public peace is a small family owned Biz and I'm happy to count Adrian within my friends, to work with him has been nothing but stress free pleasure so you shouldn't hesitate to write him / them

such great basses coming out of Germany these days, really fantastic attention paid to every detail .... Maruszczyk, Sandberg, Marleaux, Mayones and I'm sure I'm missing some others.

Yes; some "smaller manufacturers" are only known in Germany (as we don't know about the jewels in USA etc.).
No one knew about Erlewine Guitars until April 1980 when ZZ Top conquered Germany (see Rockpalast on Youtube)...

Maruszczyk is a mixture of serial manufacturing and fulfilling special wishes.
No problem in PUs, electronics, colour, wood, hardware as long as avaiable.
Maruszczyk tries to make you wishes come true. But a custom body costs more than you would like to pay. So, they have very different bodies (Fender like to modern style) as a base for "payable dreams"...

I believe Mayones is also Polish, just like Maruszczyk/Mensinger. As far as companies with manufacturing in Germany is concerned, there is Warwick (owned one, loved the untamed growly tone), also LeFay basses. You should also check those out might add to your GAS though xD

Ok, I have a question the instruments with a low B. How would those of you who either own or have had the opportunity to try 34" and 35" scale Maruszczyks rate the B-strings of each?
That's a great question!! I'm playing with the configurator (yet again!!!) on a 5er and owning a Lakland Skyline DJ5, which is 35", I'd also like to know the differences between the two.
I also saw somewhere in the Maruszczyk's facebook page that there were 5strings with 32" scale , do you really get a good Low B with this or is it just a gimmick?

BTW, Happy New Year to Everyone!!!

There is no general statement to be made about B-strings imho! Every single bass in the world is different. For example, I have a 32" scale Elwood and the B-strIng works very well.

I agree that each instrument is different. Although, some manufacturers do a much better job of producing basses that have consistently good B-strings and some are a little more inconsistent with their builds. The basses that I have played primarily for the past several years have been MTD imports. I've honestly never been disappointed with the B on any of them regardless of whether they were 34" or 35" scale. I've never touched a Roscoe but that company has a reputation of producing basses with very good Bs. The Fenders that I have touched have been less consistent.

Looking at the build quality of the Elwood 4 that I acquired, I have every reason to believe that the 34" scale Elwood 5 that I've ordered will be solid. I was simply asking if anyone has recognized any noticeable differences the scale length has had. In no way am I saying that there should be a significant difference with the Maruszczyk line. It was just an honest question. That's all.....

No worries, I got your question and you are probably right that some manufacturers are more consistent with the quality of their B-strings.

Nevertheless, the B-string depends on many factors, not necessarily scale length, but e.g. the strings used etc. and IMHO also significantly on the player. That's all I meant to say and I guess you agree with me too. ;):)

In regards to B strings the thing that's IMO often overlooked (weirdly enough) is the actual B string that you're using. Most string manufacturers package their standard 5-string sets with a significantly lower tension B string (let's say 40, 60, 80, 100, 125).
I personally buy single strings anyway since I got hooked on balanced tension, but just to clarify, to get roughly the same amount of tension on your B string as on a .040 G string you'd need a .130 or .135, so buying a 4-string set and a single low B at a thicker gauge really helps.
Also with the short or medium scale 5-ers, I always wanted one strung EADGC instead of a low B, would make a lot of sense with the shorter scale length.

I've had three Maruszczyk basses now. A Jake P/J and two Frogs. Check my profile page and you can see how many basses I've owned over the years. So for comparison sake, my experience with Maruszczyk instruments is that the B strings are balanced with the rest of the strings. That might be a good thing for you depending on your perspective. But I would not say that Maruszczyk basses are going to be known for having a solid B. They are OK. Not in the league of Roscoe, Spector, or Dingwall. Note that all of those manufacturers typically use 35" or higher scale.
