This is not my Gibson, but one I borrowed about a year ago. A friend of mine was trying to sell it, so I wanted to try it out to see if I liked it. Despite it's 70's mojo, I just couldn't get into it - so I passed.

There's a beautiful 33" scale Roscoe in the TB classifieds right now. Somebody needs to snap it up! I would hit it in a heartbeat but I haven't got the money.
Hey, I've re kindled my love affair with my Kubicki Ex Factor. I just bought a fretless neck to do some swapping, it's on the way from a gentleman in Verona, Italy.
After a couple of years of 34", this 32" is so fine! I will post pix when I get home...please sign me up as an in betweener.

Hey, I've re kindled my love affair with my Kubicki Ex Factor.
I've thought about getting a fretless Ex Factor in addition to my fretted one. The Ex Factor is sheer joy to play. I like that growlly sound you got---never played around with it to get that---was that active or passive?

Back then I was using the active/mid-boost setting almost exclusively. That is the classic Kubicki tone for sure. I was fortunate to have a great engineer on that session who was familiar with my sound and knew how not to mess it up. The only effect aside from some compression would have been the harmonizer adding the high octave to my solo in the middle and the low octave added to the slide in the intro. The growl comes from playing the sh*t out of it.
I've always thought a fretless Factor would just kill, and this was the first neck I'd ever seen for sale. Phil's price for a new one is $950. But they are like a fine art sculpture.

I usually play long scale bass, but I want to move to shorter scale - I have REALLY small hands.
I tried a 32" Ibanez GAXB150 which was much more comfortable then a long scale.
And I thought of buying an Epiphone EB-0 which is 30", but I couldn't try it because the shops here in Hungary don't have this bass. (I can only order it.)
Which bass do you suggest?

Sorry I can't be of much help here, but seems natasmi has an Ibanez GAXB150 (see first page of this thread) so you might like to send him a PM. These Ibanez go for $170 new, guess you can't go very wrong with such price. A new Epiphone EB-0 should cost a bit more. My suspicion is the Ibanez will play/sound a more "similar" to a full scale bass whereas the Epi will have that short-scale vibe (nothing wrong with that).

I also have an Epiphone EBO but the Ibanez GAXB-150 that's posted on the first page is the better bass to me. I got mine for $100 in an "****, drummer broke my bass right before the gig" situation. Glad I did.
