The Official MTD USA Thread

Vic, just when I thought that I had seen the best of the best, you show us this bass.......wow, that is the cat's meow. You are terrible for G.A.S. Rolaids, Gas Ex, Pepto Bismol, nothing works. You must stop. My wife has been begging me to re-do the kitchen, but no, you have to buy new basses, and get the GAS started all over again. P.S. I just sent MT an e-mail.

535s on their way....

just got the invoice from Mr.T this week, so the Wenge/Wenge ash bodied maple burl topped one in Tortoise Shell is done and the Maple/Rosewood tulip/myrtle topped Iced Tea will be out of the gates shortly!!!!

yeah! MTD US in the Great White North again!!!

:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

and I love that bird's eye fingerboard with the walnut - just nuts. I'll get one right after my Maple on Ash wenge-wenge 635.

Cheers,
Cameron

Well, mission accomplished on the "other builder", got you on one of those, so now we gotta' work this side of the fence again. Hey, (financial) misery loves company! ;) :D

Vic,

Can you post a high quality pic of the walnut one you have right now, so I can contrast the differences in the tops between your new one and mine? And maybe post your old one so we can compare all three. Oh in your spare time too:D. Just FYI to you as well. Will be playing at FCC with the Walnut MTD on the 13th:bassist:.

Sure. I'll hook you up with some pics. Sadly, tho, I REALLY wanted to hear you at FCC, but we'll be on our way to Branson that day. Oh well.

Nice! That is, by far, my favorite body wood combo for the wenge/wenge neck. I assume that's a 24?

So time for a new family pic soon for you, you lucky (and broke) *******.

And yes, it'll be a 635-24, unless he's got 36's coming out soon...

Do many people order the 21 fret ones? Just mad slappers, I assume.

Cheers,
Cameron

That's my assumption as well. Thing is, it seems to me those are also the people that gravitate to the wenge/wenge neck most, so I figure many, maybe even most, wenge/wenge MTDs are 21 fret. I could be wrong tho.

Ok, here are some pics for Saluki... his most recent MTD acquisition... :)

Walnut/ash body, maple/maple neck.

This is an awesome bass. I've gigged with it and it's got very rich and full tone.

Thanks Vic. You da man. I went back three pages and compared. Your new top has quite a bit more color variation than mine. Mine is more boring:D and subdued and yours is more stunning and with the BEM board it is off the charts. Nice work Mr. T.

On the FCC gig, I am quite sure the Branson players will be much better, but rehearsal is the 6th if you are interested in hearing the FOH without the congregation.

Yeah, but still, yours does have some really really nice figuring and color variation, tho.

Hmmm, I might be able to make part of that. Not sure. I'm sitting in with Soul Purpose at the Lakeside Music and Arts Festival down by The Beach House for one set... probably 7:45-8:30pm.

I have a 21 fret 535 and I wouldn't classify myself as a MAD slapper, just slightly angry. :ninja:

Honestly, I think that I slap more than I ever get above the 21st fret. If I ever need to get that high for a solo or for chordal work then I go with my 24 fret 635. I always thought that the 21 fret 635's looked kinda funny, IMO. Something about the whole aesthetic that just doesn't look right for me.
