The Official MTD USA Thread

535s on their way....

just got the invoice from Mr.T this week, so the Wenge/Wenge ash bodied maple burl topped one in Tortoise Shell is done and the Maple/Rosewood tulip/myrtle topped Iced Tea will be out of the gates shortly!!!!

yeah! MTD US in the Great White North again!!!

:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

Cool which one are you gonna take Pete?

LIAR!!

Collection of what? MTD's with walnut tops?

There will be more...oh yes...there will be more.
LOL, actually this will be my only one with a walnut top, and oh, I hope there won't be more. I JUST got out from behind the 8-ball... I need to build up funds again before I do anything like that again. :)

What if you used a piece of walnut but put an inlay in there? Anything strike your fancy for one?...or are you not an inlay on TRC's kind of guy?
Interesting idea, but I think I might prefer to leave it just wood. I don't even like fingerboard inlays that much except for the classic pearl block inlays on a J bass. :)

That would be very nice. I'm definitely a big fan of matching the truss rod cover to the fingerboard wood. :cool:
I've already emailed Mike for his thoughts on it. :) Thing is, with this particular wood combo, it's such a stark interruption of the walnut. If it was a 21 fret (much larger TR cover) I'm not sure I'd even consider it.

Does Mike do refinishes on guitars and/or other basses? :)

My worship leader is in LOVE with my Rodman, and wants to send in one of his custom Charvel's to get that same paint job done on it! :p
I'm 99.9% sure the answer is no.

I can't speak for Mike of course, but I do know that he's stated he does not even do repairs on anything but his own work. This came up when he was asked about working on Gibson Tobias basses. Besides, I think his time is so expensive it would be cost prohibitive. Also, if you watch his videos, the finishing phase is "poison" so I doubt he'd want to do any more than he absolutely had to.

It was mainly requested in jest, but then again ya never know, so thought I'd throw it out there. :)
