I really dig the ramp and the top/finish on this one.
And this one is a pure killer!

thank God they're all missing a string, or I would be seriously jealous!
Nice collection, man!

I'm gonna' sound like a broken record, but dang, that's a beautiful 535. I'm glad you decided to hang onto it.I have had this for several months. Wanted to make sure I liked it and was gonna keep it before I posted pics of it.
Wow, stunning! Great wood combo too, I might try that on my next MTD...I have had this for several months. Wanted to make sure I liked it and was gonna keep it before I posted pics of it.
Wow! Thanks! You own the most stunning MTD's ever made.
Wow! Thanks!
I had to let one go (the red one), but I still have the Marilyn and my latest ash/walnut one (the one I posted here), which is the one I play mostly anyway these days. I must say, I've definitely seen their equals in these threads, but none I truly like better, at least (thankfully!).![]()
Sorry... I'm one of those guys that just absolutely sucks at trying to get decent sound clips together.of the ash/walnut?
Thanks,
Cameron
Call/email Mike with the serial number if you really want to find out the truth for sure. Can someone please confirm whether this is maple burl or myrtle burl? I've found examples of both woods that resemble the top on this:
Thanks!
They're more the regular (what you call northern/white) ash, with those same characteristics. BTW, swamp ash just means it comes from a certain part of the tree, it's not a genus. You can probably specify lighter swamp ash if you want, but Mike generally doesn't like to build with it because it's a lot harder for him to find a piece that sounds the way he likes in the lighter stuff.hello MTD owners,
i'm not a member but i've got a question concerning MTD's ash bodies. i hear they're referred to as medium weight ash bodies and i was wondering how if they're more on the heavy side and whether they have more the characteristics of white ash/northern hard ash bodies or swamp ash bodies.
most of them look more like swamp ash bodies.
thanks for the help.

Yeah, I managed to get him to build me a lighter ash body'd bass, but it took him a while to find a piece he was happy with.Wow.
