Here's one taken at Mike's shop, just for you! ;)

So does anyone here have an MTD 534?

I'm asking because I'd really love to have an MTD, but after playing my 32" 5-string for a long time, I see no reason for getting a 35".

I know there are a few kicking around here somewhere. Of course, if you're willing to buy new all you have to do is ask Mike to build you one. Might be tricky to find a 534 second hand (that someone is willing to sell!).

A little late to the party, but I'm pleased to be a member of the MTD club again. I've had an early (#56) korina/wenge 535 and David Dyson's old avadore/wenge 535 in the past (loved both of them!), and now I've taken delivery of Mike Dimin's old 535 Vector prototype fretless. What a beautiful and unique instrument! I'll try to get some good photos to post soon, but it's much more striking in person than it looks in the pictures I'd seen before...

Hi guys, some of you may have seen my 635-24 in the classifieds this week... After regretfully wasting a potential buyer's time I just could not bring myself to sell it.

I went to rehearse with one of my bands last night and told them what I had in the works. Practice goes on and we did an improv jam to close out the night then the time came for me to solo. At the end of it the guitarist who also sings started singing, "Don't sell that bass, it's so bad ass.... Lalala."

So I guess we'll be together if not forever at least a little longer. :bassist:

EDIT:
In addition, I just realized that it's been 10 years since I first found out about MTD basses and printed a blown up pic of a 635 on 2 letter size pages and hung it up in my room as a makeshift posted, it was eventually taken to work and hung up in my cube. So it was a 10 year wait to own one of these so why sell it after a month when it's everything I thought it could be.

I expect to be hangin' out with Mike tomorrow night, sampling a few drams, after the NAMM show closes for the day. I've had the privilege of doing this before, and it's very fun. I'm really looking forward to it. :)

Mike is the man. Tell me I said "hello." I've got to get out to Kingston this summer... It's been a while.

Thank God, sanity prevailed. Give it some time, man. In two years, THEN if you don't like it, sell it to me, cheap!

Say hi to him from me, as well.

Cheers,

Oh, can you say hi to him from me and thanks for sorting out my basses neck too. I have been super busy with work and wedding related stuff and don't think I have sent him and email thanking him yet. I knew he was out of the office so to speak. If you get a chance, say hi and thanks from me and I will drop him an email too!

I think that's the best way to put it - sanity did prevail... I've never gone back and forth this much about selling a bass. Usually as soon as I post something I barely touch it anymore to kinda break the bond if you will. But this one was really sad when I posted. Ok, no more drama....

I must say, Vic, Steve (Burk) and I had a great time hanging with Michael and his son, Daniel, and sampling some fine scotch, bourbon, and tequila (with appropriate intervals in between the various spirits, of course!). :smug:

Mike is such a class act. It's a real privilege to get a chance to sit down with him and swap stories.

and I didn't know he is another tequila fan...ever tried Corralleo Anejo? Red bottle...incredible!

Cheers,
Cameron

+1!!!!

I haven't, yet, :) but I'm also just getting started, and there are SOOOOOO many tequilas out there, that I have to ask for recs from folks who "know". :)

So far, the Blancos tend to taste best to me, but I do like the Anejos. Not sure about the Reposados yet.

Patron. Chilled. Nothing smoother.
Guys, we totally need to start a tequila thread (like the single-malt scotch one)... if one doesn't already exist... I wanna' start gathering recs for great Tequilas, but that could (should) get into a LOT of posts, so I'd rather have a thread dedicated to it than mixing it up into an MTD thread. Anyone experienced in Tequilas wanna' take that on and start it with a post of all their faves? :)

I can't remember the name, but every time we head down to Mexico (which is quite often), we have a tequila that has a very unusual bottle... it has blown glass inside the bottle that looks like a coil (almost like a 'still'). I can't remember the name, but my gosh, it's so smooth it is scary.

Anybody know the name of that.... it is expensive as heck, even in Mexico... worth every penny:D
