Subscribing.
And here's my current MTD line up:
Bloodwood 635 (ash, maple, BEM)
Walnut 535 (ash, maple, ebony)

Geez, there are some gorgeous instruments here!
A recent shot of mine...ash/walnut - ash/maple.

Not me, t0t0m. But I do agree that's a GREAT looking example.+1 And that's a great-looking example I might add! If you ever decide to sell...![]()
Thanks! Vic's bass is absolutely amazing. You could get lost for days just staring at that top. That photo really shows off the top on that bass beautifully, Jerry. Not to start any wars, but I think your walnut top and Vic's are pretty much tied in my book for "most gorgeous walnut top on a TB MTD".

Here it is. I think it's either a different piece, or, he flipped the slabs in the end when he finally matched them up. Amazing how different the wood looks raw, and of course the lighting and stuff is all different, maybe even some white balance issues... Mike's no photographer... but still.
Anyway, just for fun...

No problem, and again, could be some white balance issues there too, so don't be too trustworthy on the hue. Mainly, just how much darker it gets when a real finish is put on it. Wow. And I'm fairly sure Mike doesn't stain those.Wow - really interesting. I don't think I've actually ever seen walnut in that raw a form before. I certainly never would have expected it to look so yellow. When I was at Mike's shop last spring I looked at several pieces of wood (Mike's assistant, Charlie, was really cool about showing me the different woods in the shop) but none of it looked that raw. Thanks for the photo, Vic!
What is the topwood? And the rest is Ash/Ash/BEM or ?
Cheers,
Cameron
