The Official MTD USA Thread

Do you get a 10.23 reading if you plug it into the MTD with the batteries? I ask because according to the manufacturer, the hours left are always accurate, so really, there's no need to pull the batteries out.

The meter"s plug does not fit into my MTD's input jack which allows it to get a reading, that's why I remove the batteries.

Ahhhh, ok, yeah, I just remembered the RA plug. DUH. Hey, I would think maybe a stereo extension cable would work, but not sure. I emailed them about it, and will report back.

What's going on with Mike making basses in Florida? I saw a mention of that in another thread...

Maybe he's had enough with the snow, and finally decided to fly south in the winter (like so many folks in my neck of the woods do)? :smug:

misunderstanding from another thread. Some body posted FL and what they meant was fretless...I mistook it for 'Florida'...

:D

In my defence, I broke two ribs, and I'm on Tylenol 3's...

Cheers,
Cameron

I asked them about using a stereo extension cord to solve this problem. Good news:

Should work - plug the extension cable into the bass first and then plug the B-O-M into that. The only problem might come from activating the bass with the extension cable as this makes the B-O-M reading less accurate.

So you can save your screw hole threads now. :)

This has got to be one of the hardest basses to find uses but I finally found one. So can I join the club. Just won it on *bay.

** Updated the pictures - 2004 - Brazilian Rosewood board - Awesome sound - need to identify the Body wood - think it is ash - but the bass is light - anyone have a different opinion?

Would like to join the club and get a number - Will put up some better pics tomorrow.

Looks like Northern ash to me. Could just be a particularly light piece/pieces. I haven't seen too many non-topped ash bodies like that. Cool.

Today I received my first 535 (2039 Makore body, and neck, with Amboynia burl top and A gorgeous BEM fingerboard). I have longed for a 535 after playing Z5's for years. After playing this instrument, I cannot speak to Mike's genius enough! I never knew playing a bass could be this effortless. He pulled out all the stops on this one.

By the way, bought this from Glenn at Austin Bass Traders. Glenn was amazing to deal with, I would highly recommend ABT for anyone that is looking to bypass the wait from working with Mike directly.

Can I get a number?

I agree that looks like ash, and if it's "light", that makes it a bit more rare. Mike generally doesn't like a lot of the lighter ash out there, so finding lighter ash he's happy with takes a while... makes the lighter ash USA MTDs very much in the minority.
