Of all the 5-strings I've ever owned. I still gas for a MTD535, I stupidly sold a few years ago.
It had an Alder body, "Clamshell" maple top. rosewood fingerboard.
The only 5-string i completely felt at home with.
Due to a left hand injury, i no longer play 35" scale basses.
But a custom 534 is in my future ?
USA MTD's are the bomb.

So after I set up my bass per Mike's instructions from his website I noticed my neck was a little off. Is this something I should be concerned about?

By "a little off" are you referring to the angle of the neck being kicked back a little? If so, it's not a problem.

Yeah, mine's the same way. I think that's just the way he makes them and cuts the neck pocket. Not an issue at all. In fact, I've seen much more significant angles on basses that have had their necks shimmed to lower action, which is also not a problem at all.

In with my 535/24......

It's a Swamp Ash body with a maple neck and a Birdseye board. I asked Mike to make it as traditional sounding as possible with a weight on the lighter side of 9lbs.

I thought it would take me a while to acclimatize to the 35' but I was pleasantly surprised. Probably helped by an amazing shaped neck.
