The Official MTD USA Thread

Wow Tom! What a grab! I'm curious how it sounds now with all your various amps/cabs, etc.

I spent some time playing it through the Glockenklang rig I am reviewing at the moment (Blue Soul head and Double cabs), and that was a thing of glory, to be sure! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Here are some more pics of my Sara 4:

Tom... That's just nice...

And thank you guys for the compliments, my MTD has serve me very well that I don't feel the need of another 5-string.

I just grabbed a 78 Jazz, all stock, but that Saratoga made me want to e-mail Mike :hiding:

Tom, very classy bass. It looks so simple but so right.

Well said. This is my first solid-body MTD, and I am wondering if this has something to do with the killer presence and focus and tone.

Edit: Of course, it's also my only 34" scale MTD, but then again, the Saratoga 5 was also a 34" scale bass (but it had a top).

I like that bass. I also like the concept of adding a passive tone control.

Thank you, I like it a lot too, the sound (with the passive tone rolled off) is just what I need, I don't have to say anything about playability and looks, it's as good as an MTD gets

I had the good fortune of playing Virgil's AG MTD yesterday and couldn't put it down. Probably one of the best instruments I've ever laid my hands on. The neck plays like butta! It feels exactly the same all the way up the neck. The notes speak so clearly and the electronics are ridiculous. And it looks so badass!

An absolute work of art by Mr. Tobias!

Thanks Neil. There aren't many people that I allow play my AG, but Neil is one of them. Great player and an even nicer person. The body is Alder, and I think that is my preferred wood. I can see another Saratoga in my future.

My main 535 also has an alder body (maple neck/rosewood board). I don't know how much of the bass' tone is determined by the alder but I LOVE the sound of that bass. Very warm, punchy and big sounding but still plenty of that MTD articulation and bite.

I used to have an older MTD535 with Wenge/Wenge neck and Korina body. During the economic crises I had to sell her and she is the only bass I really miss. I was looking for the same older 535 for three years and finally found one with the same specs from 1995. She is on her way to her new home now. Hope I'll enjoy her as much as I did the previous one! Unfortunately the old one had much sexier finish on her.
