It really depends on how adamant you are about trying to get close to that sound...keep in mind that quite a bit of Andrew's sound comes from his attack and the fingerboard wood plays a role certainly, but not as important as his style of attack IMO...I saw him up close and personal some years ago playing an MTD with a different wood combo (dont remember exactly what, but the bass had a Bloodwood top) and it sounded very much the same as his newer MTD to me, with the signature sounding a bit warmer...he's got and even newer model with a MIDI pickup and different woods and the difference isn't that noticeable unless I REALLY listen...certainly not as noticeable as maple and rosewood are to me...
