The Official MTD USA Thread

You can tweak the spacing enough with new saddles, notched by a good technician to provide a slightly narrower spacing. The tech would start with a plain, unnotched and unthreaded saddle. He then files small notches starting at the point where the string first contacts the rear of the saddle.

It accomplishes the same thing as the threaded rod, but does it more precisely, and retains the look of the stock saddle. You can't make huge adjustments this way, but changing from 19 to 18 mm. spacing should be easy for a decent tech.

Thanks for this suggestion, it had also crossed my mind to do this on the threaded rod saddle to improve the precision. Do you know where I might source some saddles with no pre-existing grooves that are compatible with the Hipshot B style bridge?

Boy, did I find the right place… FBass, Stradi, Marleaux on order and pondering the next MTD.

Curious… what do you all do with this collection? I want to play them all!!

I play 2-4 a day. They're hung up around me. 10 basses, three g*****s.

Awesome!

Do you have a picture of the wood top?

 Oh yeah
