The Official MTD USA Thread

I was at the shop once when Dave Holland walked in to pick up an ABG that Mike had done some work on. I have no idea whether that ABG was an MTD or not - I was too busy trying to act casual (I was trying out a bass at the time and my volume dropped pretty quickly when I saw who had just walked through the door :D).
Judging by all the sawdust on it, I assume it's a shop piece, which is why I assumed it was his project ABG.

Controversial was probably the wrong word. They made about 10 basses with them and a handful of the boards began to peel off the neck. That one was a survivor.

Yep - I ordered mine in 2014 (completed in 2015) originally with a pistachio fingerboard, but during the build process Mike told me he’d stopped using pistachio and he recommended the roasted BEM that I got as a replacement.

It's a $100 option, "World Logo". I requested one for my order...
I got to pick mine out at the shop. They're individually made by hand by a guy Mike knows. I was thinking, "this isn't necessary but I will absolutely do it". They have blue background or shiny black if blue doesn't go with your color or preference.

Well la di dah... maybe I should add that to pick out with my top wood ;)

Hmmmm I ordered the world logo too, didn't know there was a black variations. I don't care either way but I assumed it to be blue.

I didn’t know about the black ones either, until my visit. I did go with black for my green stain. Should be cool with the black hardware and black dots.

The differences between pieces were very minor. I don’t think it’s worth the trouble of picking out over the internet. Still cool if you’re at the shop.
