The Official MTD USA Thread

Yeah, I'm an in for a penny in for a pound kinda guy. 100 for the logo and 270 or whatever it was for the finish matched knobs were drops in a bucket after I swallowed the initial cost of entry.
That's how they get you ;)

And I did the same, although I just picked every option I wanted and got a quote, YOLO!

Are their headless designs for double ball strings only or is it an alternate design?

Either double ball or standard strings...

I bought a shop build and then made changes so it was a little different scenario. Even adding time with my changes saved me a solid year of waiting
When did you order yours? You went through Bass Central, right? I went through Fretspot, my specs were confirmed 10/11/21, so in theory I should be getting tops to choose from any day now... but with all the supply chain stuff, who knows?

FYI, I love the different logo options. The world logo on my makore/ebony/flamed ash & white wenge/birdseye 535 looks oh, so nice:

I love the "black on black" look on my 435:

While I do also like the black and white logo on my Marilyn (#3 of the first three), I do think the world MTD logo would have looked even better (though I don't think it had come out yet):

But I have to say that I also really love the even more simple logo on my Saratoga 4, which just seems so fitting:

Multiple logo options for multiple different thematic styles. Another reason to love MTD!

I have a 5str fender pj and ibanez sr. Thinking of selling both and getting an MTD USA instead. I play mostly slap stuff on the pj (wooten, stu hamm) and prog on the ibanez (polyphia, dream theater; basically mm and dingwall tones).

which 5str mtd model would be good enough to cover both? I’m thinking either a saratoga 5-24 pj or mtd 535-24 with super pups in jj locations. But am open to other suggestions too.

Is this the bag the US MTD’s are shipping in now? Is it any good?

I don’t think that’s it exactly. Close though. Same company and model name, but I think the MTD version is a bit roomier at the top, and there’s a padding insert chamber around the body edge. Can’t see everything in those pics though.

Mine’s held up okay. Minimal usage though, mostly home and a few jams. It’s gotten a bit misshapen.

Thanks- some of the other pics I’ve found on Reverb and such look like the MTD version is a bit more “robust.”
