The Official Reeves Bass Amp Thread

I agree, and have found him to be a man of integrity. I hope that it's clear that I am relating my experience as a singular experience, and not an indictment of nor indicator of Reeves quality. I have also taken pains to describe this company as responsible and proactive regarding their qc processes.

I don't enjoy being one of the guys who is helping them to get their stuff in one bag.

hmm... and my GAS has sorta subsided... :( here's to reeves getting the qc in order.

Well, I went down to the Fifth Avenue Fretshop (in Columbus, Ohio) yesterday to hang with my good buddy (and BGM Technical Editor) Phil Maneri. I wanted Phil to look at one of my basses, and as long as I was coming down, he asked if I could bring along some all-tube heads for him to check out. Of course, I had to bring my Reeves C225. :D

We spent most of the time playing Phil's vintage ('63, I think) Precision, and the cabs were two EA VL-208's (Phil's personal cabs), and we were all surprised how great they sounded with these tube heads!

Here's the Reeves.

I have one of these coming in soon with a matching 1x15. I'll be putting up a little feedback once I get back into the swing of playing again (been on a "break" for a while). I gotta say though, it's taking them quite a while to process my order  Maybe I'm just spoiled by bigger businesses:help:

"Good things take time" as my dearly departed mother used to say. Reeves only builds to order, so there is some time lag involved in sourcing/ordering parts, getting the cab built, etc. etc.

When did you place your order? When I've ordered large "in stock" items from MF or GC it usually takes at least 5-7 business days to get to me.

i wonder how these reeves sound compared to the max webber mywatt amps from what i understand their both hiwatt clones yet the mywatt is way cheaper last time i checked

I wondered the same thing before I got a Reeves. The Reeves 225 is just based on the DR201, and I think the Mywatt is supposedly a direct Hiwatt knockoff, although I think it uses a toroidal PT.

However, the Mywatt is only less expensive on the western side of the Atlantic if you don't add shipping and duties.
Which is actually a moot point. When I inquired about getting a Mywatt sent to me, Max Weber wouldn't even ship to the US because "The paper war for duty Is unbelievable high".
The Mywatt certainly appears to be cheaper for players in Europe, though.

I'm talking about processing the order. Not getting the rig. It took two days for the money to even be put on hold in my account. It's been two more days and I haven't even gotten an e-mail saying it's shipped, but the money's officially out of my account as of yesterday. It's just a little strange compared to what I'm used to. Makes me feel uneasy about their business practices, but I'm used to dealing with sick companies (like Sweetwater) and small shops, so I might be paranoid. I don't order from MF or GC EVER. I hate them lol.

I wouldn't be too worried at all. Bill spends most of his days multi-tasking. It's rare that you call him on the phone and he doesn't have his head in an amp while talking to you.
He may not follow ISO-9002 'best-practices' when it comes to running the communications and shipping portions of his business, but your amp will get to you.

Cool. That's what I needed to hear.

Turns out there was a letter wrong on my e-mail address, so everything they sent out didn't reach me. I knew something was wrong lol. Who called Bill and told him I was nervous!? He just called me and straightened everything out. Very cool guy. I can safely keep my faith in Reeves now :)

Anyway, the rig is on a truck on the way to my house right now!! :hyper:

Awesome! I think that you are going to love it!

Just spent the last 30 mins playing through the rig. Had to stop because my spine is killing me lol. Everything everyone says about this set-up is true. I won't go as far to say it just blows everything out of the water, but this amp is SOOOOOO rich sounding. There's just something there that is just not in any amp i've ever played through. looks kickass too. I'll give a full impression after my next set of gigs and practices. :hyper:

On a side note, I need a better screwdriver. Taking the back off the amp and putting the tubes (beautiful btw) in was a PITA!
