Similar, but not quite. This is a bit more reddish than a typical tobacco burst. Here's a close up picture of the side.

And it's not really completely accurate. It's so hard to get some colors to show up correctly in photographs.

Nice! I see what you mean though.

Left to right:

Stambaugh ODB 5...Bart XJ coils, afzelia burl top, spanish cedar body
Stambaugh P-style...Aero pickups, one-piece mahogany body
MTD Kingston 5...stock, except for the thumb thingy
Elrick e-volution 5...Bart XJ coils, spalted myrtle burl top, alder body
Elrick e-volution 5...Bart XJ coils, crotch myrtle top, swamp ash body

For me, five basses is plenty. With the exception of the 4-string, I could live with just one of these if forced to by economic circumstances. As it is, I have a hard time making up my mind about which one to load up for a gig. Granted, the Kingston doesn't have the sophisticated tone of the others, but in a pinch I could make do. Lately I've been taking the fretless as a 2nd bass, disciplining myself to sing one set every gig with it. By the end of 2009 my goal is to sing a complete 4-hour gig with it. :eyebrow:

This is the first time I've ever photographed all five together. All were purchased new. The two Elricks were surprise gifts from Mrs. 'blue. No, she doesn't have a sister.

Im looking to completely change the Precision: Change the pickups to quarterpounds, add a Badass II bridge, and then a Torty pickguard. Maybe at a later date, a pickup cover too!
