For me, five basses is plenty. With the exception of the 4-string, I could live with just one of these if forced to by economic circumstances. As it is, I have a hard time making up my mind about which one to load up for a gig. Granted, the Kingston doesn't have the sophisticated tone of the others, but in a pinch I could make do. Lately I've been taking the fretless as a 2nd bass, disciplining myself to sing one set every gig with it. By the end of 2009 my goal is to sing a complete 4-hour gig with it.
This is the first time I've ever photographed all five together. All were purchased new. The two Elricks were surprise gifts from Mrs. 'blue.
