Try to find a dimarzio stretchy elastic strap. It helps with the neck dive as well as the weight. You'll probably notice that the bass tends to hang parallel to the floor as opposed to diving all the way.

Looks like you have a mid to late 90's model.

I have not run an extensive side-by side comparison as of yet, especially since I only got the Am Dlx into working condition yesterday. Besides, it is currently at my workplace and I can only play it through an open-back guitar combo. The little while I played it in my garage with the P-pup, it really was thunderous (on Pyramid Gold flats). The L-1000 is strung with Rotosound roundwounds. The slap tone with the bass boost on is really sweet and juicy, and the single coil sound would override any other passive P-bass, I am sure. The Am DLx is all active. The tonal variations, now that I got the electronics working, range all the way from "brittle" to "boomy". I bet you can dial in anything you would care for in any "normal" musical setting. You just pick and choose.

I am sure the playability of these basses is ranked by any user's preferences. I find I lean toward thicker necks, but the Telecaster bass neck is a bit too thick for quickly reaching over from low strings to high and vice versa. The L-1000 neck is too shallow for prolonged riff based grooves, and my hand gets tired with it easily. The Am Dlx is somewhere in the middle, just right for me, for my current covers band project. Next rehearsal will be in a week's time. Thanks for your interest.

Why, that's a left-handed precision clearly...

oh you mean the one on the left right? ;)
I would say it's from the kawai factory, and thus could be a super sound, teisco, kay, or many other names from the 60s, and made in japan. Set them up right and they can be utterly brilliant, though sadly never worth any pennies.

I finally got round to taking a family photo, guitars included

Nothing overly special or expensive but I love them all so much, and my mediocre playing doesn't give them the showing-off they deserve!

I have 3 basses so far, and still own all of them (My Ibanez GSR200 [first bass] is at home and the other 2 are here with me in college)
The Fleabass, a great bass. Really fun to play and surprisingly can get a lot of different tones from it. I can't understand why people are so quick to hate it...

And here's a 2001 Squier Precision Bass, Affinity series. I got it for $50 bucks...without a jack...So currently, its completely stripped down. Theres gonna be new pots, new jack, new pickup, new pickguard, new bridge, new strings, new knobs...basically new everything! Haven't gotten a chance to see how it plays though...

Yeah, I noticed it. It's okay but i prefer to have neck a little higher than parallel. :) I'll try to find this strap,we'll see. :)

Yea, it's 97'. All wenge neck :)
