I finally drank the cool-aid and joined the Fender club. It's a 60th Anniversary Jazz that I bought from another TB'er and it's fantastic. I just love the color.

I used to be endorsed by Vintage and played their AV4 which was essentially a jazz bass with 22 frets, a slightly different body shape and a precision width neck, fairly big chunky tone for a jazz bass but I found it couldn't maintain a low enough set up for my liking so fell out of my playing rotation.

As for Vintage basses they are a bit like squier in that you really should play 1 before buying it as their fit and finish varies but they are fairly solid instruments on a budget, especially in the UK where finding anything any good on a budget it hard.

The Jazz bass you asked about I haven't played for a long time but remember it being like any jazz bass copy really, nothing special but I'm sure a change of pickups and a good set up would make it into a bass to rival a MIM, if I remember correctly the bodies were alder so a good platform to mod. enjoy

I only using one, 4-string fretted, jazz-bass style bass

oya, the U.S.A. Big muff already sold, now I'm using Russian Big Muff and a Zoom B1x

You dont see that way of putting a precisionpickup in the body. The low stringside down and high up.

Hi, thanks for your good reply, I'm pondering buying a budget jazz bass, it will most likely be a Squier though, a Classic Vibe or a Vintage Modified. I will give Vintage a thought too.

My rhythm guitarist plays a vintage brand, and he loves it.

If it were up to me, I would go for the Squier cv. The choice of colours isn't huge though.

My Fender J Bass. Just finished painting today. Flat smoke grey with midnight black airbrushed on and all the logos and writing has been sanded off. It's not fully finished yet. Still waiting on a new pickgaurd, chrome and nobs. This is my first rebuild
