Hi all, this is my first post on talkbass, just wanted to show off my bass, i'm very proud of her

She's a partscaster and cost me €1000.00 to put her together.

Neck: Geddy Lee
Machines: Schaller Vintage
Body: Highway one
Controls: Highway one
Pickups: SD Quarter Pounders
Bridge: FCH - Babicz

I have recently put flatwounds on her to combat the sometimes intense brightness of the maple Geddy Lee neck and to take some of the finger noise out of the quarter pounds. She sounds lovely now.

It's hard to find an 'original' colourscheme on a Fender these days, but matt wine with maple, black blocks and a b/w/b p/g is a new one on me .

I also like how tidy that room is. I am envious. My place looks like someone has let a load of children, monkeys and cattle loose in there for a couple of hours.

Posted elsewhere, but what the heck .......

My new (used) Marleaux Betra Custom headless bass .

7.5lbs of pure tone, thanks to the flawless build, (active?) Bartolinis and the Glockenklang preamp! Never have I owned a bass so many varied and usable tones.

OK, enough hype, here are the pics ...

I'm not familiar with Marleaux but that's one of the prettiest instruments I've ever seen.They did a great job with the stain/finish,it really makes that wild grain of the top jump out,I love it!!
It does look like that body piece between the neck pickup and the end of the neck doesn't have a real smooth consistent joint seam with the body,is it flush or raised a little? maybe it's just a photo effect.

Thanks KD! Yes the top is pretty 'wild', even when photographed without flash (as in all pics, apart from #4 ).

The block at the base of the neck joint does actually fit flush with the body, but there is a small gap on either side where the edges of the veneer have been rounded off (to stop it chipping, I guess ). This creates the appearance of two black lines when the light shines on it from certain angles. I must admit, the gap at the lower edge is slightly wider than the gap at the top, although I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. Maybe I should send it back .

They do make a pretty sweet pairing. The bass can make a lot of sounds, but the 'Marleaux family' tone is essentially a very 'modern', hi-fi(ish) tone, quite similar to Sadowsky basses (very broadly speaking). The Markbass amp can also cover a lot of ground (with it's VLE and VPF controls), but is most at home as a modern, clean sounding amplifier. The 12" cabs are OK, but I'd like to hear this bass through a 4x10" I think .

It's just a shame that I'm not in a band right now, as I can't really crank this thing up in my apartment .
