Any V is good with me - those are sweet!

My Dad passed away a few months back. This was his bass, now my brothers. I thought I'd share anyways, even though it's not mine. Late 60's? jazz bass. Neck was a Fender replacement after a couple years due to twisting, thus no decal on headstock. I have no idea where the original neck ended up - too many years ago. My Dad ran around with the likes of Tom Jones, Roy Orbison, etc. Get your hands on the original studio recording of .. insert dispute here: I say Only the Lonely, my brother says Pretty Woman. I say OtL because it was pre-hit. PW was later .. my Dad is playing the bass in it. He took studio pay rather then royalties - said it'd go no where .... well, everyone makes mistakes :D

Thanks for sharing the pics of your Dad's bass. I'm sure there are countless good stories you heard over the years about it, and the shows he played.

HAH, one of my favorites was a time when they finished playing a gig and he proceeded to heavily imbibe in his favorite beer. Well, a collection was taken up and they were asked to play another set. They had to sit him in a chair with his bass strap around the back to hold him up ... but he never missed a bass lick.

He was a consummate bassist and he lived to play. If I get the chance I'll post a rescued reel-2-reel recording of him (in the appropriate forum, of course).

That is an awesome bass. Lots of mojo !

I picked up playing the bass guitar again, after 20 years, only a couple of months ago. So this is the only one I possess right now (to start with :D ) :
