Top is a Schecter Stiletto Stealth 4-string. I plan to mod it with Dunlop Straplocks, a Hipshot Xtender, and a new bridge (the stock bridge's design lacks intonation screws on the saddles).

Bottom is my #1- a heavily modded LTD (by ESP) HTB-600. That thing's been with me through several bands/musical projects, toured with me up and down the east coast, even been in photo shoots with models. That thing's coming with me to the afterlife.

I've reduced my arsenal to two basses. I still have plenty of GAS (my "gotta try 'em all" pokemon-style GAS for strings is as powerful as ever), but the lion's share of my needs are met.

I had an identical stiletto for a while. I rally enjoyed it for the price point. It has a really cool sound, but I couldn't get all the sounds I wanted from it. I wound up with an ibanez sr800 (heavily modded).

Not prefer ! (imho) they compliment each other perfectly.

The Kiloton has a neck like a jazzy, perfect for fast playing and slapping.
The L2000 has a neck like a p-bass and an enormous variety of sound possibilities.

Together with my Alembic and Squier precision......puuuhh ....hard to find reasons for GAS. :whistle:

I'm of the mind that strings make the most noticeable difference in tone and my Stealth seems like one of those basses where the strings would make the most dramatic difference. It has nickel rounds now, but I plan to try a set of Ernie Ball Group IV flats on it later this year (I'm still waiting for some hardware mods I ordered and will have those and a setup done eventually).

Thanks, yeah it does feel like a very solid bass. I'm really happy with the end result.

ATK's are great, but HEAVY basses... Before EBMM had more affordable options, it was the closest you were going to get to a 'Ray at that price point.

An interesting tidbit is that they use the exact same tri-rail pickup for both 4 and 5 string models so they save on manufacturing costs, because everything that can be the same, is.

Everything over 8 pounds is problematic for me so I will stick to my "cheap" p basses.

Yeah that locking jack is a weird choice on their part. There are instructions for defeating the lock so don't let that be a deal breaker.

The biggest "usability" issue are the "luminous" side markers. They are invisible on a "dim" stage unless you just hit them in the past 5 minutes with some bright light, so I (and others) add our own position markers.
