this used to be a 90’s Squier P Bass in Olympic White. Only the body is left, the neck is build by Vox Humana in Vlaardingen - The Netherlands.

the pups are from Bartolini, a high mass bridge from Fender and then some new pots and wires. The tuning machines are Hipshot Lightweights.

Never had one on this neck actually, never feld the need for it either……

I’m pretty sure you can find the right strings that would give you more grit out of your jazz bass.
I have some Dunlop Marcus Miller stainless steel super bright rounds on one of my jazz bass and it rumbles like crazy on low notes and cuts in the mix pretty much like a p bass.
The only downside is that they are rather trebly but I guess rolling off the treble might work.

It's probably time to change the strings, in as much I can't for the life of me remember when they were last changed!

Here are my current P basses, which is mostly what I play. I have 2 nitro basses for fancier occasions and 2 poly basses for when I don’t want to worry as much. Half have flats, half have rounds, all the 4’s have hip shots.

2008 ARVI 62 - strung w TIs. Light and resonant. My Motown machine.

2021 CS Precision Jazz. Roundwounds, really fast neck.

2023 Am Pro II - I added the tugbar. DTF light gauge.

2021 Am Performer - I did some aesthetic modifications based on the 70s vibe and Tommy T-bone Wolk’s old modified P from Saturday Night Live. I added the hipshot, a stealth string retainer, thumb rest, and the 70s holes including the pickup and bridge covers. Then I put a cream cover on the J. This has GHS balanced nickels. A much different tone than the others, and can even do a Jaco burp. Most people describe the tone is very modern, but if you just use the P pick up and dial back the tone, it can do a very believable old-school thump.

Spotlight on late '60s?/early '70s Conrad (MIJ) ss hollow-body bass.., with a few mods... a sweet little thumper. My 'non-original' pg references vintage Soviet era Russian basses and the generic single-coil was in it when I got it years ago. Sounds/plays really good.

I put a new Steve Harris pickup in the beater, so I figured I better put a mirrored pickguard as well. p.s. If anybody has a chrome Steve Harris pickguard; I'd be interested in buying it.

That's cool man. I really like the no dot aesthetic going on there. It's really tidy.
Also FWIW...that chrome guard weighs like 10 lbs . Ok...maybe not 10 but it's heftier than I would have guessed. I mean, it's actual metal. I tucked mine and the BA bridge away.

Okay so I've virtually finished the mods to the vintage white V-4 "Steve Harris" homage, just waiting on a custom made mirror guard but everything is done.

Mods included =
Added 3 string tree to headstock
Steve Harris signature strings
Revival RPPB 11.5k replacement pickup (£35 off Amazon)
Upgraded wiring
Changed pots to CTS ones with a no load tone control (still want use of tone knob if needed)
(temporary) mirror vinyl overlay
New control knobs
Iron Maiden vinyl sticker (a little smaller than the West Ham one but I think it looks okay)
Set up with super low action

I decided to change the pickup for one with more output and found this on amazon.

I have Revival pickups in two of my strats (the Hendrix set and the 1954 set) so I know they make a good pickup for very little money

So how does she sound after all these changes? In a word fantastic,the pickup swap has made her bolder and more dynamic. The only thing I need to decide on is if I'm going to install a Hi-Mass bridge (Gotoh or Fender) or leave it vintage.

In a word : AWESOME !
Personally, I would keep the actual bridge, the vintage look with the brass barrels looks very nice to me. And they will look nicer as they age.
And I’m generally not a fan of stickers but the one you have is just perfect, not too big.
