Okay I'm going to be completely boring amid all you guys with your hot rods, Lambo's and Bugatti's .. I have just the one a lefty fender Jazz Squire..
I figure the only way I'm going to have something really tasty on the wall is to build my own as I just can't justify the money for an over the counter super cool when I'm on the pension.. So I have one bass and one guitar on the bench that needs to be finished then I have a short scale destined for me..

Here's the whole family. I still have my first bass, the Ibanez GSR190 on the far right side. I got it for my birthday when I turned 13. My kids love the play with that one because it is extremely light and they think it's cool that I still have it 23 years later. The newest is the Sadowksy Metroexpress JJ 5. I found a great deal so I had to scoop it up. I've it for about a month and the honeymoon phase hasn't worn off one bit.

Thanks! And no, I traded the Obstructures to Kevin @ EGC and it’s since moved on to another pal’s possession in Maryland. I do miss it, and would honestly have held on to it if not for it’s weight lol. 13ish lbs was too much for my aging bones, I guess.

I hadn't seen the Obstructures in any of your line up pictures in a while and was curious. 9.2lbs is light for a Bean! Is the body Koa? Even my wide horned shorty is 10.4lbs. Is it this one that was up on Reverb a few days ago?

I’ll have to check, but I think this one’s got a poplar body. No complaints though. Sounds like any other Bean bass I’ve played. First time I picked it up I did a double take though, my brain was like this should not be as light as it is lol

I did a thing that might trigger a few people. I present my Nate Mendel signature p bass with a squier contemporary j bass neck:

I think it looks awesome and it plays so well too.

The neck is from my Darkglass swapped contemporary jazz bass that sounds good and plays like butter but weighs just a hair under 11 pounds.
I already had a jazz neck on the Nate Mendel bass but the frets need a little work that I don't have time to do at the moment. Plus, I've been wanting to try this combination for a while.

I'll be playing 2 sessions a day at a 2 week long youth conference thing with my wife soon which will be my first gig since the start of the pandemic (I used to play weekly before then) so I want to keep things simple and straightforward. A passive, buttery smooth P bass seems like the way to go. My wife's jazz bass on the right will be coming along as well.

This is all my main basses. Most are self explanatory, other than the fretless, which is a Squier soft maple body Jazz with a mm humbucker, and a warmoth fretless maple neck. Super heavy bass. The Yamaha is a 92 or so bb 300 that I stripped and refinished.

I'm a pretty new bassist with a little too much time and money on my hands.

The P bass was my first bass, bought primarily because the color knocked my socks off. It turned out not to sound or feel right for me though, as a guitarist and smaller guy, so I'm really happy that replacing the neck, bridge, and pickups have completely transformed this into a wonderful instrument.

The Ibanez was purchased for $100 locally and I had a lot of fun modding it. Particularly proud of how well the black staining job went on the reddish jatoba fretboard. Very close in tone to the P bass.

And finally my Ernie Ball Music Man Short Scale StingRay with ebony fretboard and a custom matched headstock, to my knowledge it's the only one they made that way at my request. Easily the highest quality instrument of the three, and would be the only bass I need if I didn't want the Quarter Pound P bass tone when playing punk.
