You do know that Musical instrument manufacturers are in nowhere the same financial league as a Gatorade or Nike? Fender , or other musical instrument manufacturers, do not pay for endorsements. They offer other incentives, but no pay.I doubt she would turn down endorsement $ from Fender to remain an SX hipster...

Yes, but even sending a bass that someone normally has to pay for is a form of monetary endorsement.

Mmmm. So giving me what equates to an instrument manufacturers cost of $800 is not going to keep me off the dole as opposed to xx millions to endorse Nike. I’m just saying a lot of mis information that a musical instrument manufacturer imposes it’s will on an artist to play their gear the way a sports shoe company does .

First mod on the books! Gotoh “tall” string trees, the og have string channels in them which binds up on the silks. So.. gone
Then both got GHS precision flats 95-45 , my new favs. I also oiled the roasted necks which surprisingly soaked it in and gave it some nice color. Set up identically, very low action, no buzz all tone. These shorties are my current amore. Next up a couple pickguard swaps. I’ve heard these tuners are junk but these do their jobs just fine and look good, I have some bone nut blanks so I’ll toss those on some day. They are small instruments but not any lighter than a typical p bass so don’t expect light , but tone and playability are very good. I actually really like the stock electronics. Series/ parallel and single coil and a passive boost all which work incredibly well and sound fantastic. I think 2 is enough for me so go get yours! Originally purchased for the extremely hot crappy weather we had in summer these 2 are getting all the love right now. They are fantastic, they need nothing, fret work was excellent as is the build quality. Perfect for doing little mods to and tossing in the back seat for jam night. Sterling got these right.
And yes they exhibit the typical differences of Maple vs. Rosewood. Rosewood is rounder , Maple has the immediate crisp attack.

Gibson are much maligned, but in their prime they made some great basses besides the Thunderbird e.g. Grabber, Ripper, RD, Victory.
My '81 Victory Standard has been refinished a couple of times (once before I bought it, and most recently by me) and is now a bit brighter than the original red. 43 years old and still elicits comments.
I would be lying if I wrote that I didn't want to caress each of them... as long as it had 4 strings... For me, 4 strings are the meaning of a bass. Regards! Good luck buddy!

I must confess, I never played a 4 strig bass (yes, I know is crazy, I started with a 6 strigs bass in the 90's). I'm a B string sucker.
