Just got it. Far exceeded my expectations. Its phenomenal.
It's on my wishlist for the future, for one of my basses, but those necks aren't "simply affordable", so, it takes some time to put the money aside for it.
I mean, it's costly, and then shipping to Europe... one day.
The Aluminati is the real deal. I can't speak to the others but this is phenomenal. I snagged it used because yeah they are up there.
it needs a lighter bridge. It feels a little heavy but for a second I had a babicz and it felt lighter. The badass is a good counter weight but too big imo. For a P especially. So im thinking under 9 with a different bridge but I need some incoming parts to build it. Im trying the Duncan SPB 2 for the first time so looking forward to that and a bunch of custom stuff from Fretsonthenet. I think its a wee over 9 right now. Its acceptable for me and should only get better. The neck is hollow. It has what looks like a Aluminum fretboard line. But almost invisible seam. For my preference of "as low as possible before buzz" on the nut slot height its too high for me at the moment. So I will shape that too. I will get it down low and no buzz. This already reminds me of my Vigier in that it has very low action without buzz on all open strings and every note on the board rings clear and musical. This is rare kids. I dare you go play every single note starting with the open strings all the way up the board. We and at least me are usually forgiving if my favorite instrument has a funny or off note. A choke or rizz or wolfy. Its wood. Its hot out. Who cares.. but it's something quite awesome to have every note sing out with no anomalies. This is achieved by a pretty straight and stiff neck with no twist or level issues. Sorry for the rant but did I say I dig this neck ! More pics and details in the next few weeks. Cheers
Just popped it on the scale 8.8 lbs. so not a bad start. Feels heavier though lol.
In the pursuit of a super low setup. Btw low for me is 3.5 64ths for E,A,D with G at 3 64ths. At the 12th. That is on my "low" side and effortlessly easy to play. Even with the nut currently a wee high its just stupid. So back to the new babicz. It's weird looking and I had to shim the neck to get some down pressure on the thing because it was rattling. So was the BA. Full energy. It was shaking. I used a stewmac .25 shim neck shim and it did the trick. Its just silly good. Once the nut is done for my light set at 95-40. Then it will pretty much play it self. Teehee.
So .25 shim. Light babicz and here we are. Needs electronics and a cavity cover of sorts.

It is! When I bought the bass I intended to change to a brown tort pickguard but in person, it looks really good. It's a nice touch Dingwall did on the white SP1 with their artist's hand painted pickguard design. It's like classic meets modern

Thank you man! It's a Musikraft/mjt build. One thing that drives me a little crazy is how the body is a little lop sided, but it sounds/plays so good I'm very willing to deal with it.
