Thank you, Chambered Ash body with Koa top and Birdseye Maple fb & neck...I get the full range of a P bass with some extra headroom with the Nordy 2b pre in it..sounds freakin great

For the past month this is what I've been playing. The strings are broke in, and it feels and sound like a Stingray should. Unique and amazing at the same time. Great for studio recording.

Thanks! No, that's the original finish. I replaced the pickguard as the original was all cracked, but it was black too. My best guess is that it's Dakota Red, but I'm no expert.

Here's my latest...

Warwick '17 Ltd Edition Thumb NT4 #3/50 NAMM bass...not a "fan" of gold hardware, but other specs are perfect, and just 8.6 lbs.

Recently sold my '02 Thumb NT4, so this bass has a nice, familiar feel...not bubinga, yet still sounds like a Thumb!

When I had it in at Mike Lull's shop Mike told me that in '68 they were experimenting a lot with pickups and some are good and others not. He told me that these were some of the good ones. All I know is that it sure sounds good to me!

Hey guys,
First post on this site. I've been playing all my life. Used to swear by warwicks but watched a few Bobby Vega seminars and made the switch to Fender. My first was the black American standard. It's a 2014 and I bought it new for $1500 CAD. I fell in love and knew I wanted another as my back up. I was using a thumb bass at the time as my number 2. I sold that, and found a 2010 American standard (sunburst one) online for $900 CAD in mint condition. I didn't bat a lash and bought it right away.

My one question for you gear heads out there: my 2014 jazz (black and white) has volume volume tone controls. My 2010 that I bought used has a volume knob, a pickup selector knob in the middle and then a tone knob. The guy I bought it from said it's all original and didn't seem to understand my question. Was this a trial run that fender did in 2010? I was under the impression that oher than the stack knobs in the early sixties they all had volume volume tone. Regardless, the sunburst bass is my favourite. Incredible tone.
