So, this was my first build/assembly, aside from changing pots and pups.
I ordered the neck in Indian Rosewood/Indian Rosewood from Warmoth with 6130, graphtusk or whatever, and a steel truss rod. The body was purchased here on TB, and started life as a mexican nitro finish from a 57 RI, came with that bridge, and the PG. There isn't much on the PG, but I can ask where it's from. Amazon sells some nice ones for about $16, and I use them a lot on other Fenders without feeling like I'm missing something.
Ordered their Schaller (Fender Style) Tuners and string tree from Warmoth.
The neck is prob about the same as Maple with regard to weight, but it can go with no finish (which is how I ordered it). I have very large strings on (EB Power Slinky .55-.110). For those wanting to know, the custom neck was $410 shipped, in my config at the time.
I can tell you that from having to drill 16 holes for the tuners, it's a very hard wood. I just bolted it right up yesterday and tuned it. I'm going to check it today (I adjusted the truss).
I will say that these pretty much require neck removal for truss rod adjustment, but before I even got it, they (Warmoth) swore that it would be really stable, and I wouldn't touch it much. We shall see.
Basically, I have a modern P Pro 1 5/8?, and a 60's RI with 1.75 nut, so I knew what I was looking for there (This is 1 11/16), and I wanted to get a rosewood neck before they were gone for good. It was a lucky choice for the black bridge, which is the one "upgrade" that this custom neck has, the graphtek nut (vs stock corian).
This is kind of styled after my 60's American Orig (P Bass, Tort, 3TSB) which has dull grey flats on it now. This has much brighter inlays and with the rounds, brighter looking strings.
It's 9 lbs on my scale right now. I have a little better scale that I can double check it on. My 2017 P Pro is 8.8ish lbs.

I'll bet you'll have to tweak the truss rod slightly for the Heavy Strings. Might not have to touch it though.

It was a metric allen if I recall correctly 5mm? 5.5?
Also going to a very dry, mile high, CO. I took it about 1 turn tighter yesterday, and it's close to ideal. It took half a turn before I even had any resistance. So far, so good. If I had to tell you what this sounds like, I'd say that it sounds a lot like a Rick at this point. .55.-110 is crazy tension, but you can really dig in. Sounds woody, makes things rattle in all the right spots with my small tube ampeg PF/PF.
Also, Geezer pups and hardware are pretty great for the money. They match this build exactly, and they sound fantastic (passive). I like '62 CS and the 60's vintage in my AO, and the SDuncan Hot's in another P, but I like these a little more. EMG just seems really nicely made. Not lightweight.
My only bass currently. A Fender 62 Reissue Precision from late 80's or early 90's.

The Audere pre is in the Vigier. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Took maybe an hour and a few solders. It sounds fantastic and from start to finish the $ the kit that has everything , the install and the end result . Pure original bass tone exactly what it sounds like without any change of it's Original character or any obvious preamp character imparted onto it . With excellent EQ points at the Bass & Treble to goose it a hair perhaps, there is no active / passive , but it sounds natural i.e. passive. Love it ! So this bass has big old single coils that for some reason weigh about 5 lbs. The Luthier was inspired by Rickenbacker basses and this bass has a flare of that even in it's voice . check out ma clips , bass track is both pups , with a slight bass and treble kiss and the "lead" is all bridge with the same B & T notch . The Balance , Bass & Treble all have center detents and smooth cut/ boost .
Very nice looking. That bass has it some crunch in the sound clip. Awesome. Nice bass.
I'm really impressed w/ the Audere pre's. "Quality", options and really good prices.
I'm afraid to try one because it might necessitate 19 more, LOL.

Thanks for the info - that's not bad at all! I figured the rosewood neck would be dramatically heavier than maple, but perhaps it isn't as huge a difference as I was expecting.
WRT the comment someone made about adjusting the trussrod, it could be a process kind of like the fellow at the Warwick showroom here in Nashville described to me for their Wenge-necked instruments: Make an adjustment, wait 24 hours for the neck to respond (since it is so stiff), adjust further.
I thought this was a funny picture. I had to take all of my basses and guitars out of the studio for a new desk build. It looked like they were having a tea party at Christmas. Frighteningly I've added two more basses to this since then, another Birdsong and a double bass. I do think I'm missing a Stringray and a 4 string Fretless.
I feel shortchanged! I was expecting a harp unstrung this is what I get?
